Nope. I'm questioning why you would prioritize more gun restrictions over more sugar and/or alcohol restrictions. That suggests that saving lives isn't your primary goal, given that sugar and alcohol each result in way more death than guns.

 

NOTHING in the OP article mentions DIET.

The ARTICLE does mention VIOLENCE, HOMICIDES and SUICIDES and well as Maternal MORTALITY rates.

Why deliberately CHANGE the topic to "sugar and alcohol" when GUNS and ABORTION BANS are the most LETHAL for YOUNG women aged 25 to 34?

Are they dying because of DIABETES and ALCOHOLISM?

Or are they being MURDERED and committing SUICIDE using GUNS?

 

Well they're mostly being murdered because they're living with murderers. Something like 60% are being murdered by men they live with. Don't need a gun to murder someone you live with.

But, and correct me if I'm wrong, your primary gripe here is that 'we're not doing enough' to prevent death (or prevent women's death), correct?

FTR, I feel just as bad for women killing themselves or killed by their psychopathic lovers as I do for women who give themselves diabetes or drink their liver and kidneys to death or die from drunk drivers. I just don't see that more laws restricting everyone else are a solution.

While it could possibly be that guns are a small factor, I suspect that the rise in homicides and suicides as more to do with other factors, both social and economic.

The linked article did mention that women of color are far more likely to die from homicide, so seemed to imply that one reason homicides in this group might be increasing is due to changing racial demographics.

(And obviously there are some other factors at play, because everyone knows there were a lot more guns in the 1950s and 60s, fewer restrictions, and yet the article says young women are more likely to die from homicide today. It's also true that the vast majority of females who commit suicide do not do so via gun, that tends to be more a male thing, so I doubt guns are a factor there)

 

EIGHTY percent of all HOMICIDES and SUICIDES involve GUNS.

REALITY matters.

 

And that percentage would only go down, even if you made guns completely illegal. (Because obviously it is still possible for homicides and suicides to be committed without any guns; in many of these cases the gun might have just been the means to the ends, rather than the cause)
So the only real question is by what percent would homicides and suicides decrease, if you were able to implement the gun restrictions that you say you want. (And I doubt most gun control proponents will admit they want a complete ban)

 

It's the second amendment that says the right of the people that keep in bear arms shall not be infringed. Not any Court.

Besides I don't think that's why happiness is declining with women.
