Good - Granny gettin' tired o' havin' to jump up an' down adjustin' the TV sound alla time... Loud TV commercials may soon pipe down, as FCC votes on constant volume levels 12 Dec.`11 - Those ultra-loud TV commercials will soon be a thing of the past.
That's illegal here in the US. http://www.techspot.com/news/46665-new-fcc-rule-regulates-tv-commercial-volume.html
We have guidelines here in Australia. A lot of the "added volume" is because of compression (I won't bore you with the details). This is a good article: http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2008/08/17/2334963.htm
I enjoyed this ad, as a young man. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhGJvGhIzaw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhGJvGhIzaw[/ame]
This has to be one of the best advertising campaigns of all time, for the insurance comparison website 'comparethemarket.com' in the UK. It's just inspired stupidity, and has led to multiple TV adverts, a spin-off book of the family history of the main character (I kid you not! The ads just got better and better as they went along, all from one simple 'play on words' idea - just sheer advertising brilliance: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ust9YBlEfY"]Original ad[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBu0OtC6m9g"]Jingle ad[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71hnoVqwkGo"]Sergei ad[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xiC9GNNODE"]Family history part II ad[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow9qNEIV2sw"]Family history part III ad[/ame]
