The Church has to adhere to its doctrine. If the White House does not change its policy, there is going to be a huge shortage of heath care institutions in a couple of years.

Agreed. How can he get to government only heath care with all of these private institutions standing in the way.

The same thing was claimed regarding Catholic adoption agencies in the UK when the laws requiring equal treatment of homosexual couples was introduced (after the 18-month exception specifically for Catholics ran out).

It was, of course, a complete and utter lie. No organisations closed as a result of the regulation. They compromised and made adjustments, exactly as everyone else has to in a democratic society.

The Church DOES have to adhere to its doctrine. However, if nobody within the church adheres to the Church's doctrine, what does that say about the Church? Maybe it says that the Catholic Church is a shell organization?

Let me see if I have this straight......

Obama decided to mandate contraception, because he knew it would force the Catholics to NOT provide health insurance, as part of a veiled plot to nationalize healthcare?

    You gonna stick with that?......

However here in the US, Catholic adoption agencies have shut down over the same issue.

The Catholic Church has not excommunicated a SINGLE priest over child rape, but somehow they MUST close their hospitals to not allow ANY women to have the CHANCE voluntarily obtain birth control with their OWN health insurance policy that they earned!

We can clearly see the skewed priorities of the Catholic church.

Oh!....my bad....I was thrown off by how you responded to someone who said "It's what Obama wants and needs"...by saying "Agreed. How can he get to government only heath care with all of these private institutions standing in the way."

Well...now we have that cleared up. what doesn Obama need, if not to socialize medicine?...or do you think he just wants to stop private health insurance for Cathlolics without nationalizing the whole thing?

You responded to my post by assuming that I thought :
As if, I thought, he expected this to happen.
I do not think he expected it to happen. I do however know that single payer is his and the lefts end goal. So now that the (*)(*)(*)(*) has hit the fan, I feel he is kind of enjoying sticking it to the Church.

Frankly, I think he is enjoying the fact that he will have the support of the rank and file Catholics while the Church Hierarchy sputters impotently away!

Its like when a movie hit the "banned for Catholics" list the Church handed out, it was guaranteed a good box office from the Catholics who would flock to see a "hot" movie!

I think that while this might not have a huge impact on the Catholic vote, maybe a 2-4% swing, it is still going to have a net negative affect and this President needs all the net positive gains he can get.

I don't know of anyone who will vote for Obama soley because of free birth control, but I have heard more than a couple express that they will not vote for him because of it.

Why do you think that's Obama and the left's goal?....Obama isn't saying it's his goal.

There are very few single payer propenents in the Democratic party these days. They got too much backlash and have softened that up.

Like I said...there are very few single payer proponents in the Democratic party these days, and I don't consider 2003 these days, that's 9 years ago.

Obama knows single payer isn't possible right now, and Americans don't seem to want it.

That's the thing about Obama, his 2008 platform hasn't been identical to policy as president. He changes his mind sometimes when he gets new information, or the people don't react well to it.

The problem comes in when it's only the right that wants him to change his mind, then he gets stubborn.

MOST Catholics use birth control regardless of what they say publicly.

When that voting curtain swings shut, there are very MANY Catholics who are going to vote to save $50 or $100/month on their birth control.

Maybe the common problem factor isn't Catholicism then? ;)

Surely one of the few advantages of a commercial healthcare system is that if it comes to Catholic organisations not wanting to run hospitals any more, someone else can simply buy them as a going concern.

The Catholic Church would have to actively go out of it's way to ensure staff loose their jobs and patients loose their services and they wouldn't do that just to make a political point... would they?

    For real?

Isn't a pre-requisite for an "I Told You So.." the actual happening/occurance of said event?

In this case, it's not remotely likely to even happen.

Yes it is, and there will be long lines, and a 5 month waiting peroid to see a doctor. Just like every other country with socialized medicine.

What makes you think America is special or will have a different result when we walk the same path that doomed Europe to failure???

    Dont be silly....

The government simply wont pay, and if the government doesnt pay, theyll close the hospital.

Obama already cut 500 billion outta medicare to fund Obamacare....

its only a matter of time, until we're completely destroyed just like Europe.
