Parliament TV: The UK's relations with Hong Kong session Inquiry: The UK's relations with Hong Kong: 30 years after the Joint Declaration Foreign Affairs Committee Following the evidence session with Jonathan Fenby CBE at 2.30pm this afternoon, the Committee will take evidence from members of a group of protesters who have been demonstrating outside the British Consulate General in Hong Kong since November. Witnesses At about 3.30pm, Tuesday 16 December, Wilson Room, Portcullis House Tang Chi Tak, Student at Chinese University of Hong Kong Hui Sin Tung, Student at University of Hong Kong since the middle of Oct 2014, a small group of students and Hong Kongers, has been staying and sleeping out side of the Hong Kong British consulate. Hoping that Britain will give us a helping hand and commit what she promised at Joint Declaration. and finally, ....... here is the youtube link, many said that their English is poor, but at least they speak out for Hong Kong. I am so grateful for what they did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FJ_LqSblZk no more tolerate on China colonization! https://freehongkong.wordpress.com/
England will do nothing, because England cannot. Hon Kong is a part of China now, too late. China will do wherever is necessary to assert her rule over Hon Kong. British should not give away Hon Kong in the first place. Reunification of Hon Kong with China was not like reunification of Crimea with Russia. The people in Hon Kong hated it, but British betrayed them. Now, China is a world power economically and by her huge population.
I think she will handle the case carefully....so what you said is probably not gonna happen.... Anyway I feel that Britain is going to treat this matter seriously
I agree with you, many hong Kongers think this is a mistake for Britain give away HK. We can't forsee the answer before China takes off her mask and shows her real face to us. Why we didn't ever realize, once China got Hong Kong, the only thing she would do is colonization? Like what she did to the Tibet and Uigurh people? Why we would think we could be the exception? We (and the innocent hong kong kids) have to pay for our stupidity and naive....and we are paying it now..... After the failure of umbrella revolution, China will only speed up her colonization more forcefully The only thing we can do is to try to against it....
hongkong was never britain to keep, also under britain HK Mever HAD free election. No just naive kids and idealist went out protest. Poll show 80%+ hong kong resident against the protest. the protest was doom to fail, i said that back in september, it was disorganized, no plan etc etc http://www.huffingtonpost.com/han-zhu/10-lessons-from-hong-kong-protests_b_6316096.html some are true some are exaggerate/false
seeking a revolution change is never a good idea, history is full of example, after french revolution Napoleon was in power for many years, the Arab spring is another recent example. rather than go out street protest, be organized, have a plan, do it incrementally, also dont block roads, business, bank etc etc for OVER two month, the local will not back you up if you do that. The reason why was over is because people were tired of protest block the major highway, and other business.
Why wasting any time or money on those two manipulated idiots is beyond me. They have never had the support of the people in Hong Kong. If they were genuine, people would've supported them. Everyone knows that they were paid and organized by the U.S. State Department via different NGO's and organisations. Hence neither Chinese nor indigenous Hong Kong population supported them.
