Bengazi-gate! Hillary is going to throw Obama under the Bus. She wants to run for president again. Bill isn't going to sit idly by.
Media bias is the obvious explanation. I think the debacle in Benghazi and the phony narratives that followed are going to be much worse for the Obama administration than F&F. Putting a lid on this is going to be a real challenge for Barry and his lackeys...
That is painfully evident, Eighty Deuce. I can remember Gaffemaster Biden predicting that one day someone would challenge the administration abroad and it looks like that has finally happened. What they didn't anticipate was this happening less than two months before the 2012 election. I can hear the crapping of pants in Washington a hundred miles away...
I listened to the entire hearing and came away with three things. Ms. Lamb identified by name two higher ups involved in disapproving the request for more security personnel. There was nothing the Embassy could do or say that would have resulted in more security personnel as State was simply not going to approve more. There is a unshakable story line from State that insists they had one and only one intel assessment from the day of the attack through Ambassador Rices run by a the news shows 5 days later, and that no amount of information to the contrary will shake that party line. On a related point, it appears obvious that Ms Lamb is being set up to take the fall.
Let me add, as I did not make it clear. Perhaps you know, but others will not. The quote that "The Taliban are inside the building" are the exact words of Regional Security Officer Norstrom, as he recounted his last words to a supervisor when one of his requests for additional security was turned down, saying that his biggest problem was not the enemy without, but rather the one within. That is one sound bite that might stick around.
The President picks his secretary of state and scores of other folk who serve in political offices that affect Embassies...He lso sets policy for the nation so, a president who establishes stupid or unrealistic policies and who picks inept officials most assuredly is in many ways responsible for failures.
Considering you have provided zero evidence in support of your claims ... then you ask me for a link to stuff that you copy from my post on the next line .. tis you who needs to lay off the pipe. It is you that is making these rediculous accusations .. It is not up to me to make your case for you. Any fool can fortell the past. If you think you know better than the State Department then perhaps you should call them for a meeting.
Dude ... any fool can fortell the past. Clearly there are security risks at numerous embassy locations. The State Department has limited resources and numerous requests. If we just had a crystal ball to tell us which Embassies were going to be over-run in advance .. then we could have military details in place prior to them being "over-run" ... but we dont.
I do agree with you about our RW posters, but Congress does have a right to know the details of what happened, politics or not.
How would anyone have known what was to happen in Benghazi ? The request for "more security" was for 5 people. Normally there were only 3 or 4. 1 or 2 extra people would have made zero difference (except to the number of Americans killed) against the heavily armed and well coordinated military assault on the embassy.
They made it clear that the size of the ambassadors security staff in Benghazi was a direct result of the total security allowed in the country and that preivious visits to that city by the Ambassador had been accompanied by a much bigger security team until that team was removed.
'I came away from the hearing with the impression that 'the correct number of assets' and 'the agreed upon number of assets' simply meant that everyone IN WASHINGTON agreed they had enough security, even if they didn't.
Does anyone else find it odd that Carney and this administration are blaming faulty intelligence for Benghazi? Isn't that what they excoriated Bush and his administration for?
Come on .. Bush ? The guy who was warned by both Clinton and Hussain about 911 .. and then lied his face off to take us into a stupid costly war that resulted in thousands of American deaths and ended up with Shia ( think Iran/ Al Qaida loving extremists) replacing what was a secular Sunni regime. ha ha .. and on and on and on.
As was made clear, while the Embassy was being overrun, the Embassy in Vienna was hosting a Champagne and cocktails event at a cost of over $100K...It is not that there are no resources for security but that security has a lower priority amongst the Foggy Bottom elites than social perks and parties.
I do not think that is accurate, though it was what the dems on the committee pushed. There was an overall desire to increase basic security and another desire to keep military security already on hand. The request for military security was rejected and the embassy was left with squabbling over a small number of additional personnel. They went from around 30 armed military personnel in country to zero and a reliance on locals contracted which the Embassy advised was way too little for the threat.
You are incorrect. They asked for the American security teams, typically a 16-man unit. This is above and beyond the simple immediate security staff for the Ambassador. They asked for a lot. And they asked often. What was clear from today's hearings was that State had no plan, except "No". Several of us watched the entire thing.
Oh no...you see, in the case of Bush, bad intel was proof that 'Bush Lied' but with Obama, bad intel is proof Obama was not at fault.. Actually, I believe the 'bad intel' excuse is falling apart. Today they steadfastly stayed with the story line that the intel had provided them with one assessment, that the video was at fault, and that it took them a week to get different info. As was hinted by the congress critters, there is a big disconnect between seeing and hearing what was happening n real time and receiving all the intel after the fact and the 'one intel story' meme...They got a ton of conflicting data and ignored it in favor of the 'video' lie...they knew better. Heck, anyone watching TV a day later knew better. The administration lied...the only question that remains is why? That brings us to politics.
