The term 'radical' or 'Right-Wing-Extremism got its start after the asassination of JFK--a popular liberal president. Many people blamed that assassination on the influence of right-wing-extremism in Dallas, coupled with the unexpected success of the ultra-conservative Senator Barry Goldwater in the Republican Party primaries. Goldwater's rejuvenated "radical right" was a movement many thought had died with the death of Joe McCarthy. Radical Right included a combination of fears of internal communist subversion with opposition to the United Nations and civil rights. Radical Right groups like the John Birch Society and anticommunist radio broadcasters were on the rise in the early sixties. Radical Leftists is simply a term Americans use to describe those that favor or befriend our enemies and their ideologies. Civil rights is just another term describing a marxist social justice (community organizing) agenda. Leftists such as John Kerry proposed we let the United Nations dictate our military protocol. Other leftists have no problem letting a United Nations run by 3rd world marxist pygmies run roughshod over America and over our leaders. Leftists don't care that America pays the disproportionate amount of dues/monies to keep that ragtime outfit operational. While radical RIGHTIES looked to expose communist infiltrators throughout the FDR and Truman administrations, (hello Joe Mccarthy), Leftists were all upset that Righties would go to the extent they did in ousting their commie buddies. Does the Manchurian Candidate give you an idea of the Lefty love of our commie enemies? In conclusion, I don't know how a lefty can possibly say or fool anyone into thinking that they are pro America in any way. You might want to throw obama's apology tour into the mix to round out the lefty hate for America.
And that's the strange universe you live in. Do you understand where the divergence occurs between your madness and reality (and language)? Your first two paragraphs were accurate. And then you went off into La-La-Land. Only your La-La-Land doesn't have pink unicorns, perpetual motion or heavy metal harems. It seems to be populated primarily by angry hate trolls. Possibly in bow ties.
What in particular did you associate my references with to la la land? Did not FDR have a known commie spy in felon Alger Hiss as his right hand man in an administration rife with commie spies? Did not Joe McCarthy expose over 200 known commies from the democrat side of the aisle? Did not the dems pull out the red carpet for Castro, Chavez and Armihidedad(sp) etc? Did not Kerry and other libs want to give the UN complete control over our military? Was it not the liberal administrations and the liberal anti war protestors that gave America a defeat in the Vietnam War?
Interesting little side note here too - Lee Harvey Oswalt was a left wing extremist. Once again, the right gets blamed for a violent act committed by a left wing nutjob. Just like Tucson.
Yeah it does seem like the left always supports our leftist enemies while the right always supports a strong Conservative America.
That sounds nice, too bad republicans have a hard time realizing that so many radical leftists are in their own party, or at least the globalist aspect of the radical left you described. Here's one: Good topic by the way. I've given the idea of "radical" this and that some thought. Where is the radical line drawn in the sand? Does it apply to social issues as well? Do liberals in America really believe in liberty with all of their enforced equality? They oppose most of the things Republicans oppose except for gay marriage, and I'm not gay...don't care. As far as I can tell, both sides are radical...radical power-obsessed control freaks.
That whole part is La-La-Land. Leftists do not seek to aid America's enemies, civil rights are not inherently Marxist (and if they were you'd be making an excellent argument for Marxism), etc. Not everyone who disagrees with you is automatically a bad person. You don't know everything. The universe is not as simple as it appears. But we're not telling each other anything we haven't already said, are we?
For me it was your assumption that all leftist favor befriending America's enemies. There are many on the left who will back a war, as long as it is the last resort. They simply want to use diplomacy before resorting to force.
Many leftist foreign policy intellectuals support a version of Liberal Internationalism called the Responsibility to Protect. Samantha Power from the White House is one. The Libyan adventure was her idea. This R2P idea first appeared under the Clinton administration with involvement in Bosnia and Kosovo.
