Yep folks, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier. Now a school has established a rule that doesn't allow 'best friends'. you know, you hear stories from our parents about how they walked to school (up hills, both ways). When I was in school, my bus stop was about two blocks away. Now, buses essentially pick up every kid at their individual houses. Now wonder kids are so mentally warped at weak nowadays. They aren't even allowed to have a best friend anymore, for fear of hurting someone's feelings. I wish liberals would do everyone a big favor and just off themselves. http://now.msn.com/entertainment/0324-no-best-friends-rule.aspx
Well, of course it's the job of Leftninny Fascists to dictate our relationships to us, as well as every other aspect of our lives.
How is this caused by 'liberalism'? Government regulation of industry causes school administrators to do dumb things?
Wow... What a horribly written OP about a horribly written summation of a horribly written article. The original article mentions no "rule", just that some teachers are "encouraging kids to play in large groups instead of developing tight-knit bonds is increasingly common."
I don't know how in God's name you miss something that's in the title of the citation and the body of the text...but you did. "though a number of critics say the rule, which encourages children to play in large groups rather than smaller cliques, is both unrealistic and prevents kids from learning about the sometimes-painful realities of real life." The only thing "horribly written" here is your post. As for the rule itself, it's insane.
Rule or not, this idea is stupid. If you protect children from every form of emotional pain while they grow up, they will wind up a weak, stunted individual incapable of coping with real life. Painful things happen in life. As children we go through minor painful events which allow us to learn methods of dealing with this pain. If the first time these children experience such pain is later in life, they will be unprepared to cope and the results will be much more traumatic. You can already see the results of such overprotective child rearing today. You see more and more teens who cope through self-destructive behaviors such as cutting themselves. Trying to protect children from the minor pain of breaking up with a best friend will just increase these issues.
Again, I trackbacked to the original article. It is extremely vague with very few specifics particularly which schools, if any, have established this rule.
What's next, can't have the same date for school dances every time? Or how bout they make it to where you cant have the same girlfriend for more than one semester because it might make a girl jealous because she wants to be with you and it's only fair she gets her chance as well? Oh and also you must go gay for atleast 2 weeks to make sure you get an overall experience of what that's like. Seriously banning best friends? What the hell made someone think about this? Stupid stupid. Are they ever gonna worry about education rather than trying to control personal lives?
This is extreme. I wholeheartedly agree with you that such fiascos need to stop, if schools are imposing rules banning best friends.
