Now wait a minute, the IPCC said we are all doomed and at the point of no return, are you saying they are lying like most liberals on this subject? :roflol:

The (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiots that think humans can actually control our planets climate are beyond recovery to ever being a common sense human. They are indeed the "Flight of the Buffalo" going to slaughter

I don't know whether to laugh or be sad.

Laugh at how grossly basic mathematical terms are misused in the links source, or sad as that is what passes for thought. Let's examine.

The blog is basing it's information on another blog.

    http://sunshinehours.wordpress.com/...obal-sea-ice-over-1158000-sq-km-above-normal/

The headline of the other blog says this.

Sea Ice Update April 12 2014 – Global Sea Ice Over 1,158,000 sq km Above Normal!

A scant few lines down, the other blog says this about the data.

Global Sea Ice Extent is 1,158,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean.

So obviously the author has no clue what the term "mean" is. Additionally, it is taking the mean from the last roughly 20 years and saying it is normal.

That is not bad science, that is ignorance of basic statistics on the part of the blog author.

Even though we all know its totally impossible for ice to form on the poles cause of man made global warming, the Arctic is adding ice too !!!

so your objecting to them using the word "normal" instead of the word "average"?

    bfd imo....

South America and Australia had a record-breaking summer. AGW is real.

April 18th in Florida and I still haven't turned on the A/C. I'd like it if global warming were real. I'm freezing

Are you saying that the IPCC and Al Gore were lying their asses off to get us to believe total BS science? Is that what you are saying? :0

It's not global warming or global cooling anymore, it's "climate change" which means that every time someone is a conservative, the planet gets angry and has a storm or kills a kitten.

People need to understand that going by the term "global warming" as the basis of your understanding of climate change is wrong.

The warming trend doesn't mean everything gets warmer across the board, summers, winters, everything. The warming part comes very slowly, and is only one part of the total effect that climate change will have. We have to remember that the Earth has climatic systems that regulate heat. The oceans play a large role in this as do the jet streams. Different thermal dynamics mean that the jet streams and the ocean currents change.

What will actually happen is extremes on both ends. Extreme cold, extreme hot. As the ice melts, it's water gets added to the oceans and the CO2 trapped in that ice is released. We all know CO2 is a greenhouse gas. What most here don't grasp is that the extra water in the ocean changes it's temperature which affects it's density which affects the way the ocean currents transfer heat around the planet. Global warming isn't like turning up the thermostat in your home. It's the net effect of change in a bunch of different planetary systems caused by increased amounts of greenhouse gases coupled with the fluctuations in the energy output of the sun(something humans have no control over). You can even add in the net effect of deforestation especially in the rainforest regions as they areas play a large role in regulating CO2 content of the atmosphere.

There is no man-MADE climate change. There is, however, accelerated effect of natural climate change due to all the pollutants that have been spewed into the atmosphere for the last 200+ years from the burning of fossil fuels and the release of other types of elements and molecules that impact the equilibrium of climate on the planet coupled with human reduction of the planet's natural method of regulating greenhouse gas.

Regional weather is not global. It is caused by the jet stream. By your account, it should be global cooling because North America had above average snow and cold.

Last time I checked, it was winter in the northern hemisphere. As for all that new Arctic ice,
Arctic sea ice at fifth lowest annual maximum

All you have to do is measure the PPM of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and realize it's growing. However the most important Greenhouse gas is water vapor. No one talks about it, it's always about CO2 which is a weak greenhouse gas. Any greenhouse gas, whether natural or synthetic, absorbs the infrared energy of the Sun as it re-radiates the visible and ultra-violet energy heating the surface. Instead of the infrared energy radiating out of the atmosphere and into space, greenhouse gases trap the energy, causing warming.

Water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas that does the trapping of the re-radiated energy of the Sun. It's never discussed, only C02 is discussed.

Without greenhouse gases the Earth would be significantly colder, they provide an essential function in keeping the Earth a habitable zone.

Why is water vapor never discussed regarding anthropogenic global warming?

Water vapor is one of the real unknowns or to be exact, cloud formation. The climate models are very elementary in that regard.

yes, so regional anomolies like the polar vortex don't matter.

and yet you guys were yelling about how the cold temps this winter in the USA means AGW is fake.

Maybe you're not listening to the right people. Climatologists admit that water vapor is a major part of climate, but it is a feedback, not a forcing. Atmospheric water vapor only changes in response to temperature, so something else must cause temperatures to rise in the first place.

At one pro warming wed sight wants it both ways. After years of claiming that less sea iace in the north and in the south was the smoking gun to prove GW but not they say - - In glaciology and particularly with respect to Antarctic ice, not all things are created equal. Let us consider the following differences. Antarctic land ice is the ice which has accumulated over thousands of years on the Antarctica landmass itself through snowfall. This land ice therefore is actually stored ocean water that once fell as precipitation. Sea ice in Antarctica is quite different as it is ice which forms in salt water primarily during the winter months. When land ice melts and flows into the oceans global sea levels rise on average; when sea ice melts sea levels do not change measurably..

Everyone knows that melting sea ice has no impact of sea levels.

“Why would sea ice be increasing? Although the rate of increase is small, it is a puzzle to scientists.” More evidence that the climate scientists and priests of the GW cult don't know what they are doing. The prayed to the GW gods and still the ice formed over the warmer ocean water.

Maybe they should take a hammer to their man made global warming programs that are telling them what they want to hear but reality isn't what they wanted to hear. Liberals..

Now, the 1% rise in ice levels are due to nothing more than variations but when they were at the height of their dooms day frenzy .001% loss was reason to close coal fired power plants and convert to electric cars.

Polar Vortex, Global Warming, Climate Change. All made up phraseology from the rectum of a mouth breather on the government dole.

It's all claptrap aimed at scaring the clueless and stupid.

It seems to be working. Too bad it's not working on it's intended targets.

The actual mechanisms causing Antarctica sets ice to increase are quite complex, but when you consider that salt water freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water maybe you'll understand why it is evidence of warming.

Actually the polar vortices are not "made up". They are always there. It is just a matter of where. I do not believe that there is even probable evidence that AGW exists or that CO2 is the driver of global weather, let alone climate. I think we are in a peaking climate cycle and will be diving back into Little Ice Age II before I croak.

Mean like going bad in Billy Jean or mean like average for statistical years from 1981 to 2010?
