Body Cams should be used more often as it becomes clearer what happens. He started his car and wanted to evade and was shot in the head for it. Some say that is okay since he posed a danger, others say he should have been left to flee for not having tags. It looks as if they are simple traffic stops a fleeing driver should be allowed to go, but if they have a violent criminal record maybe not.

    What are your thoughts?

Edit title to indicate that this was a UCPD cop not a CPD police officer.

The lesson here is that once again a belligerent person paid a price for disobeying law enforcement.

Would be alive today if he didn't try to drive off.

And who shoots somebody for escaping a basic offense traffic stop, take his plate down and deal with it later.

Both of these people are (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiots.

This is hardly murder. The whole thing happened in a split second.

    And murder requires how long?

I'd say murder requires a conscious effort, not an instinctive reactionary one.

Depends what degree of murder. 1st degree murder does require premeditation. 2nd degree does not. The officer also flat out lied and said their was a struggle with the citizen and he was dragged by the car taking off. The car didn't actually move until the man had a hole in his head and the officer wasn't dragged at all. I'd say 2nd degree murder in appropriate.

I think it's something like 3.7 minutes.

    - - - Updated - - -

How did he pose a danger? Anyway, the cop lied on the police report. He claimed he was dragged by the car and had to shoot to save his own life. Clearly that did not happen

I'll even raise the stakes on this.

Why would the driver be so willing to run from the cop over simply having a suspended license or none at all? In my opinion he must have been desperate, who knows what crimes he was wanted for? And if he was desperate enough to haul arse with a cop right next to him, then he could have been desperate enough to drive like a mad man and possibly kill someone. So I'm not only glad the cop shot him, but this video should be shown to everyone so they know what NOT to do when stopped by a cop. The guy rolled the dice and lost.

The cop is innocent. Next case.

Long enough for premeditation. I do not see any malice I believe the cop panicked.

    1) I was in the Hamilton County CH today-tensions were high and there was a worry that if the GJ DID NOT INDICT the U of CINCINNATI Police officer, the blacks would riot. He was indicted an a coalition of level headed black ministers, the Mayor, the prosecutor and members of the slain victim's family had urged calm.

    2) the shooting appears to be a bad one. Joe Deters-as pro cop as they come, said its the worst screw up by a cop he has seen in years. I note that if it HAD been a Hamilton county deputy or a CPD officer-Both who have strong unions-I suspect his comments would have been more circumspect

    3) the slain man had an extensive record but not for violence

    4) the UC PO had probable cause to stop the car but the body cam does not justify use of force

and the slain man was not being belligerent in the sense of justifying even drawing a gun

5)) UC's President fired the Police officer the minute he was indicted

A capitol offense to disobey a government agent and for the possibility of what he might have done afterward. Who needs a justice system? If someone is spotted by a government bureaucrat who believes that person is doing bad, off to the Gulag with him, or maybe a gunshot to the back of the head after a few weeks of torture! For all they claim that they hate Stalin, the modern authoritarian conservative seems to love his brand of politics.

My thoughts. There is waaaaaay too much interaction between police and civilians. A hole in your head for a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing tag!!! I don't even have the words.

Yeah. An undesirable. A good totalitarian state doesn't tolerate that sort of thing!

No, that's not why the guy has a hole in his head. Way to down play the guy's own involvement and responsibility.

Welllllll however do you mean?! Someone shoots you in the head over a tag that's in the front of the car where they have the power to see from the back and voila there's a hole in your head. The guy didn't commit suicide. Of course the cop put the hole in his head .

According to court records, police pulled Dubose over and charged him with not having a license 13 times between 1995 and 2009. He was charged four times with not having a proper license plate on his vehicle between those dates. He was also charged with driving under suspension eight times between 2005 and 2011.

Dubose had been charged with more than 55 offenses before his death. Some of the other charges escalated beyond traffic violations, including drug abuse, domestic violence and assault.

Looked like he was trying to flee by putting it into gear and thats when he got shot?

I dont see how that's murder in anyway, especially when the cop is right next to the vehicle and could easily be hit by it as the man flees... I will be shocked if he is convicted.

I thought Obama was the defender of the Black Man?

Seems when it comes to death by cop.....he couldn't care less.

Yet statistics show black men would vote for him regardless...overwhelmingly. Go figure.
