plain and simple... pick and choose

I'm choosing Christie. I live and always have lived in NJ, plus I really like christie. So yeah I'd want him to be the nominee

Although I would be happy with Jindal, Santorum, and probably backman. I wouldnt want huntsman, and im 50/50 on rand paul. I'm not a fan of his at all but I'd prefer him to a democrat any day

I don't like rand paul because he wants to cut the military, is anti patriot act, and is very weak on foreign policy. Same as huntsman

You like the white house to decide when to take troops into war? How about the UN?

Or how about we just follow the constitution, which makes us patriotic?

Soldiers should get paid WAY more period & they should get the best equipment and the most funds. period. Anyone who wants to cut the military is unpatriotic

Huntsman, given that Johnson is off the table due to his affiliation with the Libertarian Party. Otherwise him.

Huntsman threatened to veto a law that repealed tuition loans to illegal immigrants. He basically wants to send Mexico to college on the American taxpayer dime.

He also has stated that listening to American commanders about wartime troop deployments is wrong. He thinks he knows better then they do. Here's his quote.

Yes, trained military commanders don't know the situation better than Huntsman because, well, Huntsman took a trip to Afghanistan once.

LOL this guy's a complete fricken idiot.

I am pretty sure the original constitution was allowed the President a lot of leeway when it came to war. haha

Congress is supposed to declare war.

Bypassing congress or asking a foreign body's permission (un) is unconstitutional.

Crooks lied, morons laughed, people and the constitution died.

    ;)

Funny, the negative qualities you attribute to him are the positive qualities I attribute to him. XD

And while there is a lot of fascination about him in the political environment, there is also something off about him that doesn't put me at ease.

As for Chris Christie, I think he gained a lot of points in the public's view during Sandy, but he burned a lot of his political allies in the process. He'd be a good contender, but I don't see him making it passed the Primary.

I don't have any favorites of the GOP at current. It's the newer GOP members that I'm watching tho, like Jason Chaffetz.

well yeah, correct me if I'm wrong but you seem like more of a libertarian/liberal while i am obviously more of an authoritarian/conservative. which is why we disagree on rand/huntsman...

I would agree with you also that there is something weird going on with Rand... I mean it's hard to trust him. especially since his father was against the civil rights act, had ties with nazis, and has ties with the confederates and says they were on the right side of the war....so it makes sense we dont trust him...

Christie is really good from my point of view. Im a new Jersey-an so i see a lot of christie. I like him a lot, he can make great speeches and i could see people rallying behind him. hes certainly way more likable than mr mitt romney was. so i cant see him going down in the primaries... and if he makes it to the general election, i think he would give hillary or the democrat nominee a run for their money. Christie would most likley win new jersey, as of now he has a 70% approval rating... he could win Connecticut and new hampshire too. He would defiantly be a good choice for the republicans.... the only thing that really holds him back is his weight.... its really sad to say, but in reality a lot of people wont vote for him because of his looks which is a shame

Which is why worrying about who might become president next is rather absurd. The country is too far gone for it to matter.

I'm pro gun, pro choice, anti big government, anti big business (That would be Authoritarian left and right, so you're right about libertarian leaning tendencies). I don't think we need to punish the rich, but I think we need incentives to get the middle class investing. Neither political party would ever talk to me. XD

Christie's body isn't that big of an issue, Any campaign manager would make him lose some weight if he was serious about running (pun intended). But because the primary is sort of a draft pick from within the republican party. His public approval might be overshadowed by how much animosity he's gotten in the political realm from the people who he needs to make happy to get the nomination.
