Really, magic?? Is that like "Barack the magic negro"?? Slave doesn't sound very magical to me. Perhaps along with their own 'Republican bible', their own 'Republican Constitituion', their own 'Republican science books', Republican medical text, they have their OWN DICTIONARY. Since mine doesn't haven't anything about MAGIC in it...

who cares ? movies today are utter garbage. no one gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) about the oscars or the grammy's anymore.
all they do is remake movies cause the idiots in Hollywood have no real creativity of their own.

 

I'm betting that Rush had his money on another candidate, and he lost. So he probably needs a bit of pain killer.

 

Incidentally, RUSH said he didn't see the movie. But I guess he would still somehow know it wasn't the best? Right?

 

Of course Limpaugh hates it, even without seeing it. Why? It's a realistic depiction of slavery. Ever notice that the far right quacks absolutely hate any mention of the souths racist history?

I remember seeing the "Roots" series many years ago......and it made a big impression on me. I look forward to seeing this movie as well.

 

Here is what Ellen said "Possibility number one: 12 Years a Slave wins best picture. Possibility number two: You’re all racists." ...yet libs are upset about what Rush said.....LOL! Oh the phony outrage.

 

And the left seems to think that creating such movies are incredible acts of courage and heroism, when everyone knows such movies get nothing but applause and adulation, no matter how good or bad they are.

I think the movie looks good and I will be watching it as soon as the blu-ray arrives, but people don't fool yourselves: Even Ellen joked about the Oscar's having 2 possible outcomes: (1) 12 Years A Slave wins Best Picture or (2) Everyone in Hollywood is a racist.

 

Channe, your showing your age (and to a degree, MINE). Actually, there were some excellent movies this year. From profound to silly kids to sci-fi. Too much reliance on special effects I think. But some good stuff nonetheless. But NEXT TO THE SUPER BOWL, the Oscars are THE 2nd most watched TV program each year. Someone's gotta like the movies as well as the 'show'.

There's way too much reliance on CGI these days. It's galling. What happened to the days when a movie called for a scene in a car, 2 actors got into a car, they mounted some cameras to the thing, and then the actors really drove around?

Assuming you mean in America, that's not true. Several NFL events over the past year drew in more viewers than last night's Oscars.

You do know, don't you.....that slavery was also practiced in the north. Liberals and conservatives alike owned slaves......as well as indentured servants/slaves who were white. In fact, the slaves were brought over here by the British when we were still their colony....and the plantation economy was set into place. By the time we won our independence it was the main economy.....and therefore rather difficult to change. It took decades after winning our independence, but at least we did finally break from the kind of economy that was based on slavery. I think they could have done so more quickly just by saying, "you're free to leave, but if you choose to stay, I will pay you a salary and provide your housing and food."

Many whites were brought over here as indentured servants/slaves and had to work for the person who paid for their passage for anywhere from 5 to 10 years before he was actually "free." Many of my own ancestors came here as indentured servants/slaves. At least, they eventually got their freedom....which wasn't the case for the black slaves.

 

The Love and Tolerance just oozes from such people.

Rush didn't actually even watch the movie, and a couple years ago he even claimed that Christopher Nolan picked Bane to be the new batman villain to make people think about Bain Capital negatively.

He is not someone you should get movie info from.

Yep, I don't do 'White guilt' movies.......:they get kind of repetitious.........the best thing that every happened to the present day descendents of black slaves is the fact that their cousins sold their ancestors into slavery

 

Thank god he doesn't have any kids. Imagine what a goblin something spawned from him would grow up to be. Which reminds me... dude has had four wives. Four wives, no kids. That, in my opinion, say two things about him. His private personality is even more toxic than his public one, and he is also probably infertile. The later is probably one of the reasons he is so angry all the time.
