Welcome to the fun, DOcon. Glad to see you've arrived. I think there's a good shot OSU and TCU both make the Final 4 playoff next year. Just try not to let Baylor drop 60 on you again.
Meh. Hatred of anything and everything SEC is nothing new -- haters love to hate winners. I'm not mad. Bama loses a game now and then, but they never quit. Congrats on your NC. See ya next year!
I don't mind the SEC, the conference has some great programs I enjoy watching. The SEC football fan base on the other hand...
Oh yea, I can totally agree with that. Even though I was born and raised in Alabama, I still have to shake my head at SEC fans. And the pinnacle of obsessive fan behavior is the State of Alabama. Since there is no pro sports and only two "major" universities, they tend to go overboard. Although I do have to add, we don't riot and burn our towns when we do win a championship(of course, we might poison a tree or two if we don't)
Whatever happened to that kid that killed the tree? I forgot about that. Criminal charges or restitution or what?
Sad to say, he wasn't a kid. He is in his late 50's/early 60's. It was a nut job named Harvey Updyke who called radio shows all the time and was a way over the top Bama fan. He served some time in jail, but it was only a few months I think. He did get hit with a pretty big fine though.
Urban Meyer strikes first in the new Meyer vs. Harbaugh era. I guess this wasn't illegal by the letter of the NCAA law, but definitely was sneaky. http://www.cleveland.com/livingston/index.ssf/2015/02/ohio_states_recruiting_tactics.html
Wouldn't underestimate Saban like that. Remember what happened last time they got owned like that in a bowl game, the season after...
I got a kick out of Oregons recruiting class this year. Not a single single kid out of the 22 that were signed were from Oregon.
Oh good point. Sorry, I forgot about that. I was dating back to the Sugar Bowl with John Parker Wilson. Still....He's a hell of a coach.
Not that uncommon for Oregon though. The state doesn't produce a lot of football talent, so Oregon gets most of their players from California. That's OK though, California has plenty of players to go around.
Yep, Oregon is terrible at athletics in general. You'd think a state with 4 million people would be able to put out a couple talented prospects every year though.
I kinda found this whole Mike Weber situation bizarre, because it happens at almost every school, every year... On a side note, I found a fun video of Jones trucking over Landon Collins. The best part was watching Cyrus Jones (#5), who has the angle on Cardale, pull off a basically say "I don't want any of that". Kid? Harvey Updike is a retired Texas State Trooper. He lives in Louisiana. He faced criminal charges. BTW: Auburn replanted the oak trees at Toomer's Corner: http://espn.go.com/college-football...auburn-tigers-restore-toomer-corner-oak-trees
Of course not, I wouldn't do that. Like another poster said earlier in this thread, Alabama's secondary should be much better next year (once guys like Cyrus Jones conquers his fear of contact with big scary guys like Cardale)
Just sent you a friend request.....not even sure what that means here, but us Buckeyes have to stick together. Ironically, being a noob here less than a month, my one "friend" here is milo, who was the guy who posted about 'Bama's defense being better next year. We've actually known each other a couple years from another site and he's a good guy. The two of us have had our share of good natured ribbing debates. All of this notwithstanding.....your post about Jones & Jones is funny.
I heard years of talk from SEC fans after 06 and 07. It would only be fair to give a little back. Stick around for a while and you'll see some gems from SEC fans, specifically from Bama and LSU fans. One guy on here thinks Bama could beat a few NFL teams.
I'm a big Bama fan and I have heard some of my fellow fans claim that Bama could beat some NFL teams. That one is always good for a laugh. Rabid Bama fans aren't known to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. I actually had a discussion with a fellow Bama fan about the NFL thing. He "informed" me that Bama have a lot of players on their roster that could already play in the NFL, I replied that EVERY NFL team has an entire team of players that ARE playing in the NFL, the idiot still wanted to argue. As we say in Alabama, "You can buy 'em books and send them to school and they just eat the cover off the books."
I've lived away from Alabama since I was 19, so I have been separated from the craziness. I'm an Alabama fan first, then the SEC of course(why is it that only fans of SEC schools are fans of their conference???), but I enjoy college football overall more than the NFL. Actually, I prefer a good High School football game more than most NFL games.
Like I said, kronikcope, Milo and I have a little history. I tried my darndest to get him to bet me prior to the OSU vs Alabama game. All I asked for was the going point spread. Of course he insisted straight up or no bet. I guess he was level headed avoiding the bet. Or maybe I was stupid for not accepting his counter. Maybe he was worried about what our underdog Buckeyes were capable of. Milo?
