You've got to explain that one to me as well. I've never seen another conference/league where fans of a given team root on everyone else in their conference. Can you imagine a Browns fan rooting on the Steelers to do well? I've never seen it.
Brian, you know me well enough to know I'm not a blindly loyal fan. I never bet and give points against a team that is on a hot streak. And Ohio State finished the season on a REALLY hot streak. After the stomping they gave Wisconsin, I had real misgivings about how Alabama would be able to handle them. Bama came into the game with multiple players having physical issues, but I'm not even sure it would have mattered if everyone had been 100%. Of course, I blame Lane Kiffen for the loss, cause you know, it's ALWAYS somebody's fault.
Honestly, I think it's a Southern insecurity thing. And I say that as a someone born and raised in the true South. Since I live in California, I can see it every time I visit my family in Alabama. The South takes a lot of crap from the rest of the country(not always with good reason), so I think it's one way to fight back. But I could be wrong...
Yeah, you might be right. There are some people around here who believe the south is filled with nothing but Deliverance types of slack jawed yokels.
The South has it's share of them that's for sure. But California has some folks in the rural areas that even the most bass-ackward Southerner would point at, laugh and say, "Dang boy, you ain't nuttin but a hick!"
