Looks like Trump's magic wand isn't working so well. How long before his followers figure out they were duped by the nation's biggest con artist? Most of them will come around by the end of this year... http://money.cnn.com/2017/04/22/news/credit-suisse-retail/index.html <Mod Edit- changed title to match article>
Duh, it has been going on for some time. Online sales. It is called a paradigm shift. Are you one of those that would be against the automobile because it replaces horses?
no surprise. retail is very expensive to operate and online sales are booming. Ive said this before, but I expect sometime in the near future you will see Amazon or some type of competitor open a retail space that doesnt hold inventory. Just a showroom for online sales. I expect stores like Best Buy to be next on the list to start shutting down. My nephew works there and he already says people come and check out TVs and other electronics, then buy them online for even less than employees can get them in store.
And the excuses continue rolling in. Just wait until the "Trump Slump" brings the tourism to its knees. Riight. Hate to break it to you, but President Obama isn't president anymore. That's not going to stop Trump for blaming everyone else. He's running his Admin as an LLC.
I could spend an hour debunking what the OP wrote. But right in the article are links to stock quotes and JC Penny was already sinking and lost two thirds of it value from 2012 to 2014. Who was president then? Between the fall of 2015 and beginning of 2016 Macy's lost almost half of its value. Who was president then? But perhaps the OP can cite the policy which caused these companies to sink all while the market was booming.
I hate to break it to you, but Trump wasn't president when these companies started to tank, Obama was. See what I wrote in post #7.
Doesn't matter. Trump is President now. By the metric that the right wing set for eight years that means that everything that is wrong in the world is his fault now. You can't back track now.
I think the OP wants us to believe that people just stopped buying stuff. Well, they are buying stuff, just not from these stores.
Isn't there some rule that the title of the thread should reflect the article? Because the article isn't blaming Trump (apparently, CNN values its reputation more than the OP values his). As everyone knows, sales are moving online. Why is that a bad thing anyway?
The thing is, nothing is wrong with this. While some brick and mortar stores are failing, online sales are booming. It's called progress. I thought the left liked progress.
Doesn't matter. Trump is President now. It is all his fault. Just going by the precedent the right wing set.
Under Obama, we always were hearing it was Bush's fault, or he inhered it from Bush. So using liberal logic, or lack of, does that mean everything is is Obama's fault?
Exactly. Always remember, when dealing with the left, nothing is what it seems or appears. They're liars.
From your own link: "Physical store fronts have been eclipsed by ecommerce masters like Amazon. The toll it's taken can be seen in emptying malls and shopping centers across the country." Yeah, "Trump did it". Der....
Millenials have shunned the "Mall culture". Amazon, Ikea and "free shipping" allow them more time for complaining. ANTIFA riots are the places "cool kids" meet now.
The righties whined about Obama and all the world's ills he caused going back a thousand years or so. Now it's their turn to suffer. Endlessly defending him until they finally give up. Which shouldn't take much longer...
Most of these stores come from major chains who made the decision to put these stores on life support way back in 2014. Even your own article explains why. If you think Trump caused this then you're the dupe.
