Darn, the worlds changed? Trump is appealing to high school white boys and girls who want to go back to the 50's It's way better now if you have a few brains. My 23 yr olds are starting at $90k with engineering degrees. Daughter started a cal $150mm business. I bet all the whiners are not exactly in the higher echelons. And prob are sucking off socialist benefits while they whine
Nothing more dangerous than a man with no doubts Wish I was that smart. And which company are you the CEO of again? Please tell
It's not lucky, it's education, preferably science. I was raised in a coal town where people died at 55. My single mother said we had to move. We moved. I got an education. Now I'm filthy rich. I feel sorry for the truly poor, but think many of the whiners are dreaming of the past. It's gone, the Indians and Chinese caught up. Get used to it
Sorry I meant where are you buying stuff online? I always wondered how the smaller off the wall sites remain competitive against the amazon, wally world, eBay crowd.
Damn Trump. He killed the buggy whip industry, 8 track tapes, landlines and now brick and mortar retail. Next thing you know, he will try to knock "The Hustle" out of the Top 40. Will no one stand up against this Madman?!
You mean manufacturing here instead of some other country? You like not having jobs in this country? Must be a liberal.
What? That's exactly how much respect that I feel he deserves. He has very few redeeming qualities. Ok... Ok... he knows how to pick out and eat a good piece of chocolate cake before bombing "Iraq". Feel better now?
This is a paradigm change in how consumers are shopping, but as someone who completely embraces the need for retail stores to see/demo product, I am hoping something or someone can come up with a good solution. People often want to try on shoes/sneakers/suits/wedding dresses/hats, etc., they also want to test out that guitar before dropping $3K on it. Same goes for a lot of other things, and people who do what you mention - test drive a product in a retail store without at least giving them a chance to compete with the price (allowing for some markup as there is intrinsic value to getting to test the product prior to purchase), then they are scum. I always give the store that chance, as I value their presence and want them to stay in business.
nah, i'll just throw you on ignore, don't need to read the BS if you can't simply provide something positive towards the discussion besides random insults, I'd rather just exclude you from the conversation. Ps., the remark was hilarious, but it doesn't make it right
agree, as the internet developed we gradually shifted from a buy local to a "best price no matter what", attitude that is gradually crushing the brick and mortar. If we continue with a Me First approach it will only get worse. In another thread we discussed the fact that over time we've slowly stopped caring about our neighbors and how they make a living and that its hurting us all because my income is also dependent on others choosing my services vs going online or making price the final decision maker. If all my customers took that attitude i'd lose 30% of my business overnight. As I mentioned earlier, my online purchases are up from 5-10% to 30% in 17' so i've significantly increased my online purchases including a large portion of my staples from wally world online now and I feel a little crappy about it but it avoids a lot of errand running and I actually spend less vs going to the store and end up piling stuff in the cart that I wasn't looking for in the first place, i'm more efficient now. Also being at the same address for 24 years and empty nesting now I really don't need that much random stuff so i'm not that active of a consumer as i'm well past the accumulation phase. Another major issues is too many of us have completely lost faith in american products, have opted for cheap foreign brands and have accepted that we are a throw away society. If we can shift back to more of a america first attitude with our buying patterns, even a small % swing in the right direction would have significant positive impacts on our economy both locally and nationally. I'm not a big trump fan, he grates on me big time, but I'm 100% behind his america first attitude, this isn't about 1 person, this is about millions of us shifting back to making our neighbors and local storefronts a priority, if we don't, we're screwing ourselves. not sure if that can happen, but i'm trying personally to make improvements with my buying patterns at least for non staple items. The other night the wife and I stopped at a bealls (like Penny's) and there were more employees than customers inside a massive 100K sq foot retail store, not good. On a positive note the employees couldn't possibly have been nicer to us. The mall itself is still hopping, all 3 of our malls its hard to get good parking so b&m is long from dead, but I think the pretzel guy makes more $ per sq foot than the Macy's, i'm pretty sure of that.
It takes a tremendous amount of stupid to keep GDP Growth under a 2% mean for 8 years, that appears to be Obama's greatest accomplishment.
