White House stops plan for companies to report worker pay by race and gender

    For more than a half-century, federal law has banned racial and sexual discrimination. Employers are supposed to hire and promote based on ability, not skin tone or sex.

    President Obama, however, wanted employers to consider race and sex.

    President Trump just rolled that back.

    From the Los Angeles Times:

    The White House has halted an Obama administration rule that would require businesses to report worker pay data by gender, race and ethnic groups...The plan was announced by President Obama in early 2016 and was set to take effect early next year. But the Trump administration [pointed out] that the data collection would be too burdensome for firms. People are People, not a "race" -- or sex -- or ethnicity.

    Let us quit judging them by that, OK?

    If this rule is so important, why did Obama not employ it while he was president? Why did he delay it until a year after he left office?

    We know why: it is a bad rule.

    The intent of Obama was to set up quotas on some other president's watch, and to continue dividing the nation by race and sex.

    To hell with that.

    One People, One Law, Applied Without Favoritism.

    Favoritism and unequal treatment breeds resentment. We know that, now let's practice that!

    Trump is dismantling everything Obama did.

    I love it.

    When he's done it will be as if Obama were never president.

    Demographic = Race.

    There are no "races" only humans. The concept of race was lousy 19th century science, refuted almost immediately. The entire human genome has been mapped. There are no "races" there are only humans.

    One can only hope. However I'm afraid the damage he did to race relations, especially, will not be so quickly healed. But if the rest of the damage can be reversed ASAP I'm all for it.

    Patience grasshopper, he's working on it. But like any freebie, it's going to be harder to fix now than if we'd just waited and passed something workable from the beginning, because too many people are worried now they might get their freebie reduced or taken away. Peeps get comfortable and entitled-feeling about their free government shizzle.

    The gov't by collecting such data is the biggest purveyor of
    racism, genderism, sexual preferencism .

    If a private company is hired to collect such data like a pollster, that is one thing.
    For the gov't to do it is quite another. And wrong.

    I wonder when they will notice there are too many Jewish physicians and bring back control quotas.
    Since this did indeed happen, Jewish folks just made their own medical schools.

    Racism etc. should stop from the top.
    Not perpetuated by the top with the expectation the bottom will be racist etc. free.

    Now I am a recovered Liberal if any Liberal can truly be termed, "recovered".
    One day at a time.

    The big change for me was when I had to admit they sacrificed quality for diversity.

    President Obama didn't do any damage to race relations, his election just brought the racist out the closet and with the election of Trump the racist feel like they have found their champion.

    Only in the Alice-in-Wonderland world of con artists would preventing racism would be considered racist. The racist policy is
    by Donnie the Bigot who simply wants to make it easier for employers to discrimination by denying the documentation to prove
    discrimination.
