You're correct, the Louisiana Purchase was probably the best deal ever made in history.

America also bought Alaska from Russia back in 1867 for $7.2 million dollars.

America also settled for cash the dispute in the Mexican American war under Polk and picked up CA and western states.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Obama was one of the three worst presidents in the country's history. That said, presidents are not responsible for mass murders, the stock market, and a number of other things. I can think of at least a dozen reasons, good reasons, why I want to puke every time I hear Obama's name mentioned but he didn't cause any mass murders and neither did Trump or any other president.

I live in CA and obey CA laws. Lord help us all if we must also learn the laws of Europe's countries and also obey all of them. I am hoping to someday read the actual laws of Europe some Democrats keep trying to discuss.

When I read Americans call the president the free world leader, I cringe, do a face palm and wonder where they were taught about America. It makes it look as if the president manages the free world. Obama laid his BS globally, but was he really the leader of Germany and France to give examples?

At the time of the Mexican American War, Mexico was in debt to the United States $3.25 million dollars. At the end of the war America wrote off Mexico's debt and also gave Mexico $15 million dollars for California and what is America's Southwest today.

But Mexico was still in debt to Great Britain and France bigly.

Which the Treaty of London comes into play and France invasion of Mexico in 1862. But by the end of the American Civil War the United States had the largest military in the world and France was in violation of the Monroe Doctrine.

If it weren't for the United States, Mexicans would be speaking French today and there would be snail trucks on the streets of L.A. instead of taco trucks.

Second French intervention in Mexico -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_French_intervention_in_Mexico

Are you a constant watcher of FOX? I recall when Democrats hated the same agencies. When the media lied and alleged it was Trump working closely with the Russians, Democrats should have shown their shame by apologizing since they adore the major networks. Were I still a Democrat, it would anger me they tried to fool the public into believing Russia and Trump worked hand in hand to elect Trump. I guess the Russians were clever by holding pro Hillary rallies as well. I recall too that when Clinton was our president, the Democrats hated Judge Ken Starr and swore to god he was a pervert only interested in the sex life of Bill Clinton. Today they seem to hate sex when it happens prior to a man taking office to be president.

Funny innit that only Russians were named in the indictment over election tampering?

Yes and a good bit of this is that much of the then southwest had not yet become states. CA became a state in 1850 and other territories later became states. Polk managed to get a good deal. It was Polk that negotiated the largest territorial purchase to date.

What exactly is shocking? That our children are getting murdered while the NRA profits off of scared old people who think they need a rifle to overthrow the government?
That is what should shock you. Also, hilarious that a potty mouth offends you when you support the ***** grabber in chief.

It's almost like he didn't read what he posted and doesn't know how to add.

In order to think like they do, you have to come to terms with ridiculous amounts of hypocrisy. They are fine with tyranny as long as it is directed towards the people they hate.

So we turn our schools into prisons? We model our schools around prisons? There are 90,000+ elementary schools in the US, 22,000+ high schools, and over 5,000 colleges. Lets say an even 120, 000 schools nationwide. 2 guards per school at any time on duty? That means you need to hire 4 guards at least per school, many more in large campuses and bigger schools. That's more than half a million people to arm every school. Where do all of these trained people with clean backgrounds come from(they'll need full background checks to work in a school)? Who pays for all of this?

Your OP shows you are terrible at basic math, and a trump apologist. I wonder if any of you who propose this completely ridiculous idea even think about this.

Love this. It's such simple logic but lost on people who think they might need to rise up to defeat the government some day. Ya know, cause some old guy in a hoverround is going to pose a problem for the US military.

Are you even trying anymore? Or are you that confused as to what he's saying? I understand you're probably embarrassed that your thread backfired on you but, he was saying both of those industries did the same thing. Not that there was an alliance between them.

    ... what?

You cannot be serious. The only reason the old people are alive who were all smokers is because of modern medicine and it finally coming out that smoking is bad for you. The ones that continues to smoke are already dead. That tidbit of info was known for years yet the tobacco companies effectively lobbied to keep it quiet for as long as they could, regardless of the cost of human life. Very similar parallels to the contemporary NRA.

Good read and they don't teach history in our schools today but revisionist history.

My stepmother is a decedent of President Tyler and has the Tyler family Bible.

I studied the idea that some in Congress and Army generals were playing around with the idea of annexing all of Mexico after the war. The Mexican people would have supported the idea after being ruled by corrupt leaders for so long. But the idea was quickly shot down.

America knew exactly what England knew, Mexico and Mexicans were a complete basket case and America already had one huge problem to deal with and didn't need a new problem to deal with.

That problem was slavery. When England outlawed slavery in 1833 America would have followed suit doing the same thing but the Nate Turner Rebellion that happened in 1831 and was still fresh in every Americans minds. It was Nate Turner actions that prolonged slavery in America for 32 years.

What is no longer taught in our schools, the 13th Amendment to end slavery was defeated in the House of Representatives the first time it was put up for vote. Those Yankee Republicans still remembered the Nate Turner Rebellion.

Did you know that American Indians owned slaves and after the 13th Amendment many American Indian tribes continued owning slaves and were involved in slave trafficking well into the 1890's.

Remember, Indian tribes are a sovereign nation.

They no longer teach that in our schools because today, they teach PC revisionist history and under political correctness Native Americans get a complete pass.

"You know, I was NOT going to shoot a bunch of people, but then I axed myself 'ok, who is the current president?' - then I said 'well, ok, based on that information I guess I gotta go shoot a bunch of people now.'" - said no mass-shooter ever.

Those danged Census reports blow the lid off of Democrats teaching.

Did you notice too that in the report of the Mexican American War that it was Democrats screaming for expansion into areas held by other countries.

It turned out that when the whites exported the native tribes to the Caribbean as slaves, they rapidly died off. I would judge to those in those days, the African was the better slave since they tended to survive life in the Caribbean.

Have you ever read Lincolns speech before Congress on the Mexican - American War ?

It seems Lincoln believed that a state or states could secede from the Union. In fact seceding from the Union was legal until 1860 when one political party became butt hurt and refused to except that they lost an election and came down with something comparable to TDS that we see today.

Just saying them Europeans got a lot stricter gun laws on average,.. by miles.
And their children are not being used to protect them freedoms of adults who want deadly toys.

It seems like you think this freedom, like the right to vote is just like as important.
You aware this is protected by soldiers who die for it, like you are making children die for you to have a gun?
