what country you talking about? China already slap 179% tariff on sorghum. If other asia making stuff then we are not creating jobs in US like you mention in previous post ;) Also its not a 1 day shift were factories can shift their product to other place it take years.

There are some who would sell their birthright for a mess of pottage.

China is no longer the only game in town and if they don't start playing fair our business will rapidly go to others.

ok so let say some manufacture move to India/Vietnam from china, lets give example of Nike product
    1. Nike need reinvest hundreds millions in Vietnam for factory/train worker/equipment etc.
    2. Nike need think through if they willing to spend that much to invest in other countries(who knows maybe trump add tariff to Vietnam/india next, then investment is lost), is the cost of investing hundreds of millions can compensate the 25% tariff, if not they will still manufacture in china and let consumer pay the 25% cost increase. also don't forget countries infrastructure, transportation etc which can added to the end product cost.
    3. it take years for nike to move to another country, meanwhile nike product will cost more here for at least few years due to our own tariff.
    4. HOW DOES THIS HELP AMERICAN? we pay more, nike lost millions in profit, and that jobs is transfer from China to Vietnam/india. seem like trump is help country such as Vietnam and not US
there is a reason economist say trade war is lose-lose.

You jump to the conclusion that a trade war is unavoidable if Trump starts bargaining. You seem to think we have to like it or lump it with China. Let them do us up the ass or jump off a cliff. I and others feel differently. We feel we can push china into a much better trade agreement and we don't just have to bend over as we hand them the Vaseline and say do it again please. In short you are afraid to fight back and we are not.

    Hee, hee.
See how good this is working? Trump puts a 25% tariff on foreign steel and the US steel makers raise their prices 34%. WTF.

well let see after a month if trump put tax I mean tariff on it. if he does it mean china will put tariff on US good. I don't know why trump obsessed with trade deficit, the truth is he should worry about IP protection in china and get our ally together against china.

Israel sold some of your intellectual property when they sold the missiles and technology you gave them ie China has to buy US products (or be given them) to steal your intellectual property. So the conclusion is : don't sell to China if you want to keep your intellectual property. But anyway, what products do you think that the Chinese population can afford to buy from you that they don't buy at the moment?

They raised their prices? Did they just print up new price stickers and put them on slabs of steel? Obviously you don't understand how the commodities market works

China already has tarrifs on US products that they don't want Chinese people buying or that they don't desperately need like food. If they want to put tarrifs on US food in retaliation they may find their population a bit upset.

middle class in china, depend on city made about $800-$2000/month, so yes those worker make $800/month in 2/3rd tier city are middle class.

you do know they can leave whenever they like, its not forced labor in Foxconn etc. I suggest you do some research, its obvious you have no idea on current china labor wage. The reason most lower stuff are moving out of china and into Vietnam/india etc are because raising wage.

consider soybean, they will just buy from S.america or lease Russia land to grow their own, they already doing it. China has high tariff on international good, but the bigger issues are IP protection, not trade deficit.

so trumper has issues with China so he attacks Canada and the EU with tariffs! wtf!

so magaman starts a trade war with your best ally and neighbour because Canada's a threat to the USA's "national security", seriously!...ok game on, Canada has just hit back with equal tariffs but on products we produce ourselves and can source from other trading partners...trump can slap tariffs/taxes on our products then americans will be hurt not canadians...how much are your housing costs going up? yeah americans are bearing the brunt of the orangemans new tariffs(taxes), how much did he claim he reduced your taxes? yeah he's clawed that all back and then some with the new tariffs....maga voters have been taken in by the ultimate grifter con man

China doesn't buy US soy beans out of the goodness of their heart. We have it they need it and other countries can't suddenly ramp up production. The US is the world's largest producer of soy beans and other countries that grow it already have customers for their crop. If china bumps them out by offering higher prices the price of soy beans go up and those bumped countries come to the US looking for product at a higher price. A win for US farmers.

same is true when you put tariff on china ;) we still has to buy product from them even at higher cost.

which is why china is currently diversify on US soybean, including subside its own farmer to grow soybean.

Tarrifs on China hurt them more than us. An opressive government like china needs it's people placated and willing to put up with opression for comfort. The Chinese rulers know they are one bad decision from having to run people over with tanks again.

you lose your biggest customer who will find the product elsewhere and may never return...then you lose in the long term and farmers around the world will step in to supply china what it needs...

Maybe I don't. Can you explain it to me?
Lets just say I want to go out and buy some steel sheet for my company that builds washing machines.

Only so much food in the world and America feeds the world. If china goes elsewhere the countries they ace out come to us and the price of food rises worldwide.

lol, you do know Xi is a king in china, they do what he tell them to do. China is nationalistic, Xi can simply twist this as China vs US. consider your self already support the tariff, you think Chinese would not support the same ;)
