Flo doesn't see to want to come off the coast. Once it does it looks like it's going to hook around Virginia - the path of this storm has been really unusual...
There is no friction in terms of electricity. You mean resistance. If you're going to hook a generator to your house, you need to get an electrician to put in an appropriate power transfer panel.
"Hurricane" Florence is no more. Now, it is "Tropical Storm" Florence. It has caused death, disruption, a lot of property damage, and we can all wish sincerely that it had NEVER happened. But, it was by no means "the Storm of a Lifetime"....
Pilgrim, high voltage lines normally carry enough amperage to power subdivisions at a minimum, so if you backfeed 110v into the grid, the voltage drop from your transformer to a lineman will be next to nothing. So if you've got a power plant hooked up like that, you need to disable it yesterday.
September Is Peak Hurricane Season. Why Is That?... September Is Peak Hurricane Season. Why Is That? September 14, 2018 • September 10 is the day you're statistically most likely to find a tropical cyclone somewhere in the Atlantic basin. The reason has to do with both wind and water.[/i]
I'm pretty sure he was right about the amount of deaths. I remember it was about 60 and then all of a sudden a year later it jumped up to almost 3000 like all of a sudden they found a more accurate count that just happened to coincide with the mid term elections. So either they're extremely stupid record keepers or this is just another smear campaign. As far as the power thing, he did send help to get the power on. At the time they were slamming Puerto Rico for not doing enough in that endeavor and that's why Trump sent help.
Fake weather reporting. Now this is funny! https://edition.cnn.com/videos/weat...g-overdramatic-hurricane-florence-lc-orig.cnn
I saw this last night. It's a great example of how the weather reporting cannot always be trusted to report what's really going on. I saw one a few years ago where there was a section of a street that was flooded, but everything around it was dry. The reporter literally went and stood in the water for the broadcast, giving the impression that everything was underwater.
The storm can't be too bad, not if they have time to rescue dogs. And why are they "rescuing" people? Didn't they know beforehand there was a storm coming? I knew, it was in all the news endlessly....
It's a shame how Progs politicize even storms. Florence Now Downgraded to Tropical Storm; Leftist Reporters Attack Trump for Storm-Shaming Her "If her name were 'Rick' she'd still be a hurricane," said a feminist lunatic That said, she's still a beast. Stay safe.
This is funny but really telling on the disservice some in media engage in order to dramatize and then on the other hand when it is bad and officials are telling people to leave and leave now yet there they are..... People Are Cracking Up At This Video Of A Weather Channel Reporter Being A Little Dramatic During Hurricane Florence
Clip posted above. I recall the one a few years ago the reporter sitting in the boat filled with people being rescued and a guy walked by and the water was barely ankle deep.
I can't believe people are arguing the fact. Generator backfeed is dangerous and potentially deadly Posted May 31, 2014 by IEC Editorial Staff When a storm strikes and knocks out power to your home, you may be forced to use a generator. But, do you know about a potential danger with the use of generators? It’s called “backfeed” and it can endanger you, a family member or someone else — especially linemen or electricians working at your property. What is backfeed? Backfeed occurs when power travels back through the utility lines and re-energizes them. Backfeed creates a very dangerous, and potentially deadly, situation for lineworkers at your electric cooperative. If your generator isn’t installed properly, the resulting backfeed of electric current could kill or severely injure a lineman working to restore your power. “At Indiana Electric Cooperatives, we encourage our members who use generators to make sure they are installed correctly. This is not only for the protection of our employees, but for your safety as well,” stated Rick Coons, CEO of Indiana Electric Cooperatives. To prevent backfeed, generators (whether permanent or portable) should never be plugged into a home’s wiring or directly to the circuit breaker panel. The best way to avoid backfeed is by installing a transfer switch. A transfer switch ensures your household wiring, or selected circuits to be supplied by the generator, can’t be connected to the power grid and the generator at the same time, eliminating backfeed. It also protects your generator from damage if the power is restored while it’s connected. Make sure to have a qualified, licensed electrician installs the transfer switch for you. Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ responsibility for electric service ends at the meter, so we cannot know when, or if, you have installed a generator and we cannot know if the installation was done to the specifications of the National Electric Code. Here’s another reason for having a qualified electrician complete the work. If you plug your generator directly into a wall outlet, then the wiring in your home is no longer protected by a circuit breaker or fuse in your power panel. The wiring in your home could then become overloaded, overheat, and start a fire. When the power goes out, having a generator means that you can continue to have heat, light and many of the other conveniences we’ve come to enjoy. Make sure you aren’t creating unnecessary danger by properly and safely using your generator to prevent backfeed. It could save a life. Well yes states and state/county utilities have compacts to help each other and send crews in the federal government doesn't do it.
And during Ivan and Katrina our local officials set up distribution centers for water, ice and even MRE's. This is all preplanned local emergency management operations.
