Com'on now Robert....don't jump to conclusions here. I have worked with many Mormons and some I call my friend. I live in a small town founded by Mormons. I HAD ONE DISPUTE MY PROPERTY line once and he said "where you from anyway boy?" I just told him "I'm from somewhere and you better believe it". What I despise is a religion doctrine that puts burdens on those seeking God and forgiveness of sin. Doctrines that makes demands beyond the "gift of God".
Robert, you and I could probably work shoulder to shoulder together and get along just fine.......that's how I feel.

I have no burdens. Matter of fact, you sound to me like you believe you have some.

I told you, I had this discussion with a Baptist. Would you happen to be one of them?

I've had some especially interesting discussions with some Latter day Saints over this past year. Mormons who have a near death experience often request to be sent back from heaven in order to do more baptisms for the deceased....... or geneology work...... because during their near death experience they had been shown that this does help souls that have gone on into what Catholics might term Purgatory.

    This is interesting......

    and so is this....

I have no affiliations with a denomination. There will be a couple of Baptists in my Bible Study tonight. You do know there are many different types of Baptists. Some are very staunch and legalistic. Those can be barriers; If you wanted to pigeonhole me, I guess you would say I am evangelic because I believe in the Great Commision. Some I worship with were once Catholic, a few were once Mormon, some Luthern but we drop all those titles and become The Body of Christ.
One advantage I've had is, I was told by a mentor to "read the Bible and pray about what you read before ever going to Church. I did. Now I do go to Church as well.
Robert, I do have a burden. Today I found out my cancer is back. Would you pray for me? I know there will be many praying tonight.

I'd smite all paedophiles if I were. In fact I'd smite them so hard they might die.

You will be one busy smiter my friend. I suggest you begin smiting in places such as Iran, Afghanistan, etc.

Let's pray as I am doing for both you and for Ed. Ed lives in Eugene Oregon and has pancreatic cancer and is treated at home as a hospice patient. A wonderful man with a wonderful family. Yes, let's pray.

I see no evidence there are more paedophiles in those places than in western countries; in fact I'd say there are fewer.

Yes.. the universe / Multiverse is teeming with life.......
this is absolutely correct...... and the LDS is one of the only churches who know about this.

From the outset, (on the authority of scripture) meritocracy is interwoven in the tenets of your LDS message of salvation. Goodness, charity, missionary work, caring for the downtrodden, evangelizing and leading others to faith just doesn't cut it. Any time our meritorious strivings 'elevate' us - Christ is diminished & visa versa. The 3rd thief on the cross next to Christ had a heart attitude change "believe in Me and U will be saved". He had nothing of merit going into the crucifixion except the last minute change of heart to lay claim to - except through grace, the promise of salvation. The LDS quest for 'Sainthood' (women need not apply) doesn't strike me as being in congruence with John 3:30 "He must become greater; I must become less.”

Ah, Sahba, you are not an authorized teacher of the Gospel or the Scriptures, now are you?

Lean on the Lord and be guided by humility.

Women are included. They would not be LDS were they not included. My sole mission in my OP was to show the world we are actually quite normal people who do not operate the way some alleged Christians would have you believe.

Nicest collective group of people I have ever met. I vacation with family near 'the birth place' in Royalton, VT & like to hike near that pond that is just past the entrance, on the left. I've had some length conversations with women doing their missions there. I have deep admiration for the discipline, devotion & fruitful lifestyle engendered with in the LDS faith. Above are the reasons I won't convert though.

Listening to all of this now......
I am really impressed with the details added to the context..... it all fits very, very well with near death experience accounts... .

.. .and the details added to the Book of Moses sure fit well with the visionary dream given to Pastor Rick Joyner back in 1995....

Good point....... Latter day Saints rarely seem to question if other Christians...... are really Christians.... even if we have been behaving terribly un-Christian.

I just listened to a lecture about the Book of Abraham.

The LDS in the 19th century were just as "unchristian" to the other denominations as many still are to the LDS to this day.

"The one true church and all the rest are heathens" LDS approach migrated mightily to basically a live and let live model by the 1960s standing beside a massive missionary program.

My old church the Worldwide Church of God made some massive shifts in how it approached other denominations as well.

The Philadelphia Church of God continues in the rather exclusivist mentality that developed in the WWCG by the late 1970's and '80's.

Near death experiencer Betty J. Eadie did a great job of explaining the purposes for the many denominations of Christianity..... (and all other religions for that matter).

Yes.... Latter day Saints are exceptionally friendly and nice and amazingly well read and well informed.

I am seriously considering becoming an LDS?!

But I am not certain yet.......

I was at the nearest Latter day Saint Ward three times in the last year and I can verify...... no collection plate was passed around! That is in New Glasgow, N. S., Canada.

I just bought this book on Google..... it is about near death experience accounts by Latter day Saints, especially in early church history.

Gaze Into Heaven: Near-Death Experiences in Early Church History

Do you have magic underwear? I heard somewhere that was part of LDS doctrine. I also remember that when Stanford refused to play BYU in basketball because of LDS racist policies in the early ‘70s the LDS Leader got orders straight from God to let black people hold the priesthood which was strictly banned by God before he found how much money the church would lose if other universities refused to compete with them.

I was raised Catholic and I began to see through the hypicracy of that religion by the time I was in 2nd grade along with Judaism. The more I have learned about organized religion over the years has led me to believe that they are all full of crap with the possible exception of Buddhism. However the LDS takes the cake in my opinion. It was started by a crackpot conman who was run out of every place he set up his con and to this day their teachings are about as whacky and unbelievable as ever. Sorry Robert, you have been duped, but don’t feel bad it’s epidemic throughout the world, especially herein the US.

IMO, when religion is organized it becomes a business instead of religion.

A good case can be made that dems are a cult too. But, I can assure you the LDS IS a cult. I know this because my mother-in-law is a member, and my wife and brother-in-law are both ex-members. It's a cult. Our MIL won't even eat a meal with us, and we're lucky she even speaks with us because she moved and her local cult members don't know her kids were discommunicated.
