    Here's the money quote...

I used to be a Democrat until I did my history and found out the misery that that party brought to my race… Let’s pay restitution. How about the Democratic Party pay for all the misery brought to my race.” --- Burgess Owens

I bet every single Democrat in that room freaked out once Burgess Owens started to tell the truth about the Democratic party.

You know, the truth about the KKK and slavery.

GD, Matt.... beat me by 2 minutes...

10 years on the Jets and Raiders.... as a safety.... in the 70's??

Not a star... and the guy is almost old enough to be eligible for actual reparations..

Or better get federal government out of the income redistribution business completely.

Damn... he destroyed them with Truth Bombs.

But, he has a point. I think if we are going to pay reparations it should be by the actual party/group that supported Slavery, Jim Crow, Segregation, and fought against Civil Rights for decades. The Democrats should have to pay.

I disagree. Both are beyond the appropriate role of federal government.

No. That is a perversion of the American Dream. America does not help people directly, or is not supposed to except in the most extreme circumstances. America provides the opportunity, environment, freedoms and liberties, and free market so that people can help themselves.

Not attacking the source, except where they called him an NFL star.... I guess by the standards of the rest of us, he's a star by having played in the NFL, but by the standards of the NFL, he's simply not...

Dude is certainly free to state what he wants to, but it's unlikely to have any effect...

Do we give money to the oil companies, or let them keep their own money?

it's a subsidy, not a tax cut and they should also pay their fair share of taxes, we heard Enron was not paying taxes, how many others are not?

You committed a Logical Fallacy and ignored the message and attacked the source. You lose debates that way.

Well, he was a 1st round draft pick (#13 overall) and was selected for the Pro bowl in 1982, but only made alternate. He might not have been the best Safety ever, but he wasn't a bust. He was a starter in most every game of his 10 years in the NFL and is #55 for career interception TDs, that pretty much makes him a "star".

So if it's someone you don't know they're not a star? I remember hearing phrases like Star athlete in high school I thought you knew the star athletes in my high school.

If you cut taxes, you only cut them to the rich because they're the only ones that contribute more than they receive.

    fake news

most of the rich pay less tax per dollar then then middle class does

just cause they earn more dollars doesn't mean they pay more taxes, they just pay taxes on more dollars

the right is like, the rich earn so many dollars, it's not fair they have to pay as much tax on each of those dollars as the working class does

It depends on the safety net. If it's 60 nut that prevents you from crashing and burning yes I support that that's a good thing to do with our taxes that provides you comfortable enough life or you can just live in the safety net it's not a safety net anymore it's just socialism.

I don't know why people operate under this false dichotomy. You either have to support every single person completely for generations or you want them to die in the streets. I reject that. I don't want people starving to death because they got laid off. But you shouldn't be able to just live on what is supposed to be a safety net. a safety net should be there to encourage people to strive for better things not to take away their economic libido.

So essentially he is not the 'right' kind of player to listen to. Is it because he is black and not a white liberal simmering in guilt?
