ROFLMAO!!! So true, this is what makes the "white privilege" concept seem so laughable..... it has no resemblance to actual reality.

Oy vey!! What they deduct from your paycheck does not equate what you paid for the fiscal year, unless of course you do not receive any tax deductions, tax credits or claim mortgage interest or..... etc, etc, etc...

And I would HIGHLY suspect your 25-30% includes all withholding's, not just your federal income tax. My federal withholding is 12.7% for the Month of may (I get paid monthly..

Then why do democrats fight against a flat tax so much? That is the most honest tax platform that would give EVERYONE skin in the game.

The top ten percent of earners pay fifty five percent of all Federal taxes. The other ninety percent of earners pay the remaining forty five percent of collected taxes. In other words, if ten people have to carry a weight. One of them carries half. The other half is divided between nine people. You are confusing ease with difficulty.

What if the job is not worth that much to the person paying the wage? Who makes up for the loss?

Romney paid an average net rate of 20% and no I bet you do not pay a net tax rate of 30%. You'd be well into the top 1%.

Or rather, incentivise people to want to grow. There are ample people who started at McDonald's as a fry cook, with no education, and became owners themselves through hard work and perseverance.

    https://www.qsrmagazine.com/exclusives/one-mcdonalds-franchisees-journey-fry-cook-lifer

A 40 year old that is STILL a fry cook deserves exactly what they are getting. Their struggles are a product of their own inaction's. Granted, there are extraordinary circumstances, but those are the rarities

Why? What is your goal to stick to successful people or raise more tax revenue.

What if that meant less tax revenue collected and less economic activity?

    Apparently not.
"The campaign also showed that the average effective federal rate over these twenty years was 20.2 percent, with an average of 13.45 percent given to charity."
    https://www.accountingweb.com/tax/irs/the-secret-is-out-romney-tax-returns-released

If it so easy to look up on the internet go look up the peak revenue under Bill Clinton's 29% rate and then the Pelosi revenue under the Bush43 15% rate and then tell me which rate we should use and why.

So how about back on topic after the derail to jealousy and envy of high earners.

    As to this bill

"The bill would establish a federal commission to study and report on the impact of slavery and the Jim Crow segregation laws that followed abolition. The commission would also suggest to Congress possible remedies for slavery’s aftereffects on African-Americans up to the present."

To the first sentence we have VOLUMES of written studies and books and whole libraries and college courses that teach about the history of slavery and Jim Crowe why another government commission? To the second it assumes there is something to be remedied that someone owes someone else. No even whether remedies would even be appropriate. So it would be a foregone conclusion just a matter of the dollar amount.

    Both unneccesary, unreasonable, and unworkable.

You need a better accountant then. If you are paying more than 15% on your capital gains you are getting screwed.

well into the top 1% AND apparently using that walmart tax guy or doing it yourself. Most that are "up there" have a great cpa and maybe a tax lawyer too.

I'm a small fry but I still use a well qualified cpa and take advantage of a lot of breaks.

You made the claim on this board that you pay double the effective rate Romeny does, that would put you in the the top .1% of taxpayers. Prove it.

not sure if it would, because that is one of the most well used options, but I'm realistic in understanding that for every loophole that closes another one gets opened up by sharp tax people. There is an enormous amount of opportunity for (abuse?) taking advantage of the benefits available and shelters, etc. Many that were put into place to help the less fortunate in one way or another by taking advantage of one opportunity but the wealthy and the uber wealthy tend to take advantage of ALL the opportunities and there are tons.
