They wouldn't be able to tell by me but then I have never resisted them or smartmouth them or screamed in their faces and complied with their lawful orders. Amazing how that works.

 

There are plenty of minorities stopped that don't do those things either.

 

Cops are not allowed to strike for instance. In dire crises they can put a hold on retirements. They cannot keep a cop from resigning though.

 

If the crime stat falls in the forest without cops...

 

Most people dont care, being as they have no plans to go there.

 

I believe this is EVERYONE's problem because most criminals will be released at some point. Ignoring that demographic by not providing a true path to education, training and development will lead to more crime. The recidivism rate is a result of not being able to get on one's feet after incarceration. Basically, EVERY sentence is a death sentence if a man/woman cannot pay their debt to society and move on.

 

Overall I agree, at least according to the PowerPoint presentation.

I can see both sides, but have less sympathy for career criminals vs the good person that had one bad mistake.

I had one relative that had a several pages long rap sheet and a mountain tain of excuses, in and out of jail from age 16 until an early death at age 40 from overdose. The family is still paying the price for that (left 4 children behind)

 

Nobody is saying it isn't. Stop implying that one side is saying it's ok.

No they don't. But when a minority resists arrest and they get treated forcefully, the left needs to stop acting like the police are in the wrong by default.

Then stop making it about race. The left screams racism all day everyday. They don't care how often they're wrong (almost always), they just want to win political points.

Then stop making it the only thing that matters.

When virtually the same thing happens to two different people, one white and one black, why is the story with the white victim ignored while the one with the black victim is a national story?

Until you can answer that, don't act like this isn't about race. The left demands that it be about race.

By and large, they don't at all. The left makes it seem like police do nothing but target minorities and the data proves that this is a lie. It's a blatant lie. The left blatantly, despite all data proving them wrong, paint police to be this horrible group of people who do nothing but terrorize minorities. Again, the data proves the left wrong 100% and until they stop lying, it will only get worse.

I clearly made many of those statements about 'the left' and not you specifically. Now, it's clear you couldn't respond to a lot of what I said so you hid behind the technicality that 'you didn't say it' and moved on.

Mostly the racial issues.

The left demands this be about race. Two identical stories in which one victim is white and one is black. One has the potential to become national news and the other is all but guaranteed to be ignored. This promotes massive division in this country. Far too many people see the news as a representation for what goes on in society on a daily basis. The media makes it seem as if police do nothing but target blacks and ignore whites. This is a lie, the data proves it, but the media and the left still pushes this narrative.

The data also shows police overwhelmingly do their jobs very well. It's not a group that's filled with corruption. No group has their actions put on video like the police do. They're not getting away with what the left and the media would have you believe. It'd be on video. So when you come out and say they just need to do their jobs lawfully, it suggests you're buying in to the narrative that cops, by and large, are not to be trusted and are corrupt. That's just not true and isn't supported by any data. Anecdotal evidence is being used to vilify a group of people who don't deserve it.

And now guess what.....they've had enough. I don't blame them. There's no reason to go into law enforcement right now. The repercussions of what the left and media are doing will hit this country hard IMO. And it'll hit the poor the hardest....the very people the left claims to help.

Well if I was a police officer in the US I would do the absolute minimum... the risk of being accused of racism or locked up if something happens if you respond to a violent criminal is simply too high. Then there's also the risk of being killed because you are not allowed to do anything when confronted with violent criminals... it's a minefield. Just leave the wealthy of the city to fend for themselves...

 

The wealthy have gated communities and armed private security. Police retiring and being defunded harms the poor. Defunding the police is racist.

 

Strike is one thing, but tell a person the SHALL NOT QUIT is a far different thing.

 

And they go home. It's the ones that resist and attack the police and use force against the police including lethal force that don't.

It appears you have no problem with illegals coming here and working (first 2 lines of your post).....unless they're employed by someone you don't like, then it's a problem (3rd line of your post).

I have never said or implied the problem is one-sided. I don't watch the news (too depressing) so I am not swayed by anything on it. I can only speak about what I have experienced and/or witnessed and there is a serious problem between the police and the public.

I have never said or implied the police do not do their job well. As a former LEO and offspring of a Chicago cop and Deputy Sheriff, I know it's often a thankless job. I don't hate LEOs and I'm not trying to vilify anybody.

Nevertheless, I disagree that all prejudice (not just racism, but sexism, homophobia, class wars, etc.) would be documented and readily available to the general public. That cannot happen when there is nobody policing the police.

I absolutely agree that people (on both sides) have had enough and the blame doesn't rest solely with either side.
