As Covid deaths approach a quarter of a million...

... the record number of people hospitalized is broken every day, and the cases surpassed 10 million days ago... how does this administration handle the crisis?

Why... by the head of the Covid Response Panel taking a vacation while the President hides in his golf club, of course.

This administration (by which I mean ranks closest to the President) has done absolutely nothing to combat this crisis. Nothing of any actual use, anyway. Except lie (no! he did not ban travel from China) and taking wild guesses as to what the "cure" might be ...

Oh... and get themselves infected to.

Of course, this won't keep them from trying to take credit for any good news and blaming others for any bad news. They already tried to claim that the vaccine was developed thanks to Trump. A talking point to which Pfizer promptly responded by basically telling them to "f**k off". And it's pathetic that they claim to have avoided the worst case scenario of 2 million dead. First, because that was a scenario if we did "absolutely nothing" (and some of the governors and mayors did do "something"). And second because it's a scenario that we cannot definitively claim that we avoided. That number is still not completely out of the question.

Note: This is not about Covid 19. It's about the poor non-existent response from this administration to the crisis. And absolute lack of interest in solving it.

 

At the current death rate, we might reach 2 million...in about 5 years. COVID isn't the life existing threat it was hyped up to be. I don't want it, but I do know that if I did ever get it, I feel like our medical people are more prepared than they were before. So I'm on team chill about the virus.

 

Interesting. So those who call Trump a liar decided to trust him when it came to Covid? For you to have a point, you would have to show a significantly higher infection rate among Republicans.

 

Actually he did. There was some travel from China, but those were quarantined at various military bases.

 

Well I dont think they track political affiliation on the data. would you be interested in per capita infection rate comparisons between red and blue states?

 

So we can only wish the current rate is maintained. Sadly, this administration hasn't even done anything to achieve that. Currently the most optimistic estimates (at this rate) point to half a million by February. But that's not considering hospitals simply running out of beds and personnel.

More than has to be done. But this administration shows absolutely no interest in doing it.

A quarter of a million Americans (in the "official" numbers... but probably more) would beg to differ. As well as those (not yet quantified) who will live with the consequences the rest of their lives.

IF (big if) you are one of the lucky ones to get access to medical people. But hospitals are already running out of beds. And, as we enter the winter, you can be sure that this is not going to get any better.

So what is the President and Vice-President doing about it? Why... taking extended vacations, of course!

 

Congressional districts would be more accurate. I do not think its wise to look to the government for protection from a virus.

It does not say that he did not ban travel from China.

 

Therefore it wasn't a travel ban. A ban would mean NO ONE could travel from China to US.

Yes, I know you blame Trump. Now all you have to do is show how the virus mainly affected those who look to Trump for guidance on how to avoid a virus. Emotions are no substitute for facts.

 

He banned all travel from China except for some limited exceptions. A ban does not mean no one. You can play word games forever, but the fact remains that he banned travel from China except for a few that went into quarantine. I assume that you would have preferred that US citizens remain in China. Because without that exception, that is what would have happened. You cannot have it both ways.

 

If we had a real leader in the Presidency, he would be in a constant meeting with his Covid and policy teams implementing what they can of the measures health experts have been calling for. He would put his duty to the country before his childish tantrum because he lost the election. Thousands of Americans are dying, and he couldn't care less.

Show me where it says that a ban applies to everyone within a group. I could ban travel for everyone except those under five feet tall or any other subgroup.

However, it comes back to the same basic problem. Would you have preferred that Americans not be allowed to leave China? You can't have it both ways.

 

Haha...a quarantine is only as good as how well each person follows it. You can't know if everyone who was supposed to quarantine actually did.

 

They were taken to military bases by the planeload and isolated. Again, would you have preferred that all Americans remain in China?
