    .

As a Southerner born and bred... I think of these heroic Confederate statues... who have been demonized by evil cultural marxists and are being removed one by one by useful idiots... as pegs in a decrepit dike that is ready to totally collapse.

Goodbye honorable General Lee... your loyal countrymen and fellow patriots salute you !!

I too am from the South and I like the fact that Lee told them not to put up reminders such as statues to cause strife..

Wrong. The North consisted of small farmers with crops for more self-sufficiency and domestic sale. The South had more plantation crops for export and trade (tobacco and cotton), in an unpleasant climate (hot and humid). Also, the abolitionist movement came out of the north.
    Lincoln suppressed a rebellion.

If your economy requires slavery, then it doesn't deserve to exist. Build a better economy. Besides, it isn't like the cotton industry died after slavery ended, proving this argument was uninformed bull **** from the beginning.

Those statues existed a long time without causing strife.

With cultural marxists pushing their evil agenda... they can manipulate anything to cause strife.

Today just being White... and especially a White Christian... offends those who are constantly looking for something to offend them.

Today in the news... 13 American flags displayed in Riverside Ca to honor the 13 fallen soldiers were vandalized. Since the US flag flew over slavery much longer than the Confederate flag... soon it will be open season on the US flag and other honored symbols.

Do not be deceived... THIS is the cultural marxists' way of waging covert war to undermine, weaken and destroy the foundation of a nation.

I have both seen that statue in person and taken photos of it.
It is a magnificent work of art. The city has long been proud of it.

No, what was bullshit was the left's yapping about the war being about slavery, which it wasn't. Just as you just said.

And I just want to add that the Virginia Supreme Court sucks donkey balls. They put feelz over a contract.

I was a slave in our own army. And so were millions of others.

Are you black? Did you have constant reminders who your masters were, I don't think so and you can't speak for millions who didn't like them in the first place.
The cultural Marxist pigeons will surely be devastated by the loss of the statue to crap upon.

You say wrong, yet you describe the exact conditions that led to the war. So what was I wrong about?

Nobody ran for president in 1776. And the Brits were fighting us, so of course they'd say that. We wouldn't.

We've had this argument before...the only constitutional path to secession is via constitutional amendment. When the Confederacy fired on Fort Sumter, it was rebellion. See Article i, Section 10 of the Constitution.

That was decided in Texas V US, which in my opinion is the aftermath of the civil war. There was nothing in the constitution binding the States(at least legally speaking) until that fiat decision. We in the US have a long history of Ex-posto decisions, and this is one of them(and probably the biggest one in history.)

False. Lincoln had sent an army into southern territory. An act of war by any historical measure.

Furthermore, the north was in wholesale violation of the constitution and refused to cease. You cannot refuse to uphold your obligations under a contract and then demand through threat of violence that the other side upholds theirs. That’s preposterous.

Moreover once the northern states and federal government had violated the constitution and then ignored two direct orders of unconstitutionality from the scotus, the federal government lost all authority to enforce anything. Which means that the lands which had been given under said contract ceded back to the state from whence they came. Including Sumpter. Making the federal army inside an occupying force. Not to mention the one land and one sea army they had already sent into southern territory before any shot was fired.

I am not aware of any prior decision or even attempt to take secession to the courts prior to the "Texas" decision...ergo, Lincoln acted correctly, following the Confederacy attack on Fort Sumter, in defense of the Union.

Lincoln sent federal troops AFTER the Fort was fired upon by the Confederacy...an illegal organization under the Constitution. Read Article I, Section 10. Lincoln was merely suppressing a rebellion. What SCOTUS decisions are you referencing?

I really do not support this need to remove old statues of people simply because they failed today's social standards. I can understand if people oppose creating contemporary monuments to these people but the removal is just an attempt to erase history.

Obama said that people who didn't support him were bitter clingers, and that people who disagreed with him were racist.

He couldn't stand the thought that maybe his policies were actually wrong.
