First there’s no purpose and you want me to see the future of what laws they’ll make?
How about making it a felony to interrupt delegate certification? Maybe they’ll have the vote at 2am? There are a million possible laws they could make.

One has to wonder if they would feel the same way if a large group of Biden (for eg) supporters acted the way the trump supporters did that day... It is evident that the republicans have different rules/ standards for themselves from what they have for the Dems. If a Democrat person could not accept losing an election............this would be a totally different story. If a Dem behaved like Bannon......... the R's would have pressed c charges long ago.

Bannon is acting like an immature adolescent on an overdose of rebellious hormones. Whatever his motives are........ don't matter.........as he is not being an irresponsible adult.

Sore losers ........all of them. and that is pathos in the system now.......and a greed for power. that is destructive .

Bannon's behavior is a symptom of the bigger problem.

Without ground rules ....there is no society, social order . or even democracy...... just chaos.

Unfortunately, 2am is when the majority of the GQP insurrectionists rise out of their crypts.... No go on the 2am concept... But I like that "out of the box" thinking (Pun intended)..

Perhaps we should hold the delegate certification in a public library... little chance the insurrectionists know where those are...

If I were Nancy, I would have had a representative from the appropriate DC District office in the Chamber today, and have him/her walk out of there with whatever documentation Congress generates to move this contempt charge along... No time to waste on this waste-case...

Attempt at sarcasm noted, and while I'm all for quality sarcasm, this is a bit too serious to joke away

Here's what they were voting on today, but it can be easily summed up in this simple sentence

    SNIP
According to many published reports, and his own public statements, Stephen K. Bannon had specific knowledge about the events planned for January 6th before they occurred.
    ENDSNIP

What happened on January six was a guy got into Nancy pelosi's office and put his feet on the desk and a Capitol Hill Police officer murdered a lady. I do think we need the subpoena people for the feet on the desk just ignore the murder.

Ah...a cult like tactic. Call everyone that doesn't drink your Kool-Aid a heretic or a denier or whatever word you want to use for that.

Yeah I'm called that by cultists. It just means heretic. For me it's a badge of honor because you're acknowledging that I don't drink the Kool-Aid thank you.

Here is the problem. When the judicial system wants to enforce a subpoena, there is a requirement to get a warrant from a judge with all the the rules involved in selling the judge on it. It is a check on law enforcement. Congress has no such check but it does have some rules regarding the things for which a subpoena can be issued. Those rules do not include criminal investigations or personal political vendettas subpoenas about which are beyond the power of congress. In order to enforce its subpoena it has to refer things to the justice department. It is unlikely that the justice department would enforce a subpoena that goes beyond the scope of congress. If it did enforce the subpoena it is unlikely that a court would allow it to be enforced after a law suit were to reach it. Read up on Richard Jewell, a security guard who was unfairly destroyed by inappropriate government action. I believe this case taught government about how far personal vendettas should be pursued. Bannon will not be forced to face the committee.

What law is the purpose we ALREADY have laws against violent rioting, insurrections, treason, sedition, anything that may have been involved. There is already a law about obstructing an official process in Congress. A law to do what if there are millions just give me the top 3. And why does it require Bannon's testimony as to his activities.

It's like let's just forget the 4th and 5th Amendments and the rights of citizens especially those not even charged with a crime and give Congress unlimited power to force citizens to give testimony against themselves in criminal matters.

Attorney General Merick Garland was asked today in the House hearings if anyone had been arrested and charged with insurrection with anything to do with Jan 6. He said NO. So who are you talking about, who do you know about that he doesn't?

What is it you expect to come of this and his testimony if it is ever given and it's have to make it's way through the SCOTUS before it does I bet.

I expect Bannon to be put in jail for up to a year and/or the 100K fine... or cooperation...

    Either would work for me...

Maybe higher penalties or stricter laws against incitement. Maybe higher penalties. Plenty of legislative options.

Then what could Bannon possibly be worried about? Did he kick in a window?

I think it is up to Garland to have someone there but Congress is perfectly capable of walking it over to the DOJ or Garland could take it back with him.

Now let's watch the Dems make a martyr out of him.

A Congressional persecution. What does any citizen have to worry about when partisan politicians can compel them to testify against themselves under oath.

And no he was not there, why is Congress trying to put him through some criminal investigation before them?

Oh they have to enforce first and then it will go before a judge. And if he ever does sit before Congress he does enjoy his 4th Amendment right to not have to testify against himself correct? You would stand for his right to tell them to take a hike wouldn't you?

And are you saying that if the Republicans take back the Congress you will be OK with them being able to call Biden's staff and advisers to testify before them about their private deliberations with the President and if they refuse throw them in jail?
