    You didn't watch?

Why does he have to do it in person, he can tell them on twitter. They cannot force him to testify against himself. Why would any attorney worth their salt allow their client to do so in front of a partisan congressional hearing hellbent of getting him charged with a crime, they would be derelict in protecting the legal interest of their client.

Against himself? What crime did he commit?
Again, he can plead the fifth like so many others have done.

Was Bannon staff? Are you claiming the 1/6 riot was part of trumps official presidential deliberations?

Any private converstations he had with the President would be confidential, any conversations within the Presidents advisers are presidential deliberations.

When was he supposed to and didn't? Whatever crime the Dems can try to fabricate, if they are not calling him to testify because they believe he committed a crime then why are they doing so?

Why does he have to do it in person, he can tell them on twitter. They cannot force him to testify against himself. Why would any attorney worth their salt allow their client to do so in front of a partisan congressional hearing hellbent of getting him charged with a crime, they would be derelict in protecting the legal interest of their client.

I have doubt if somehow the Dems manage to get him before them he will. If you are in court can the judge instruct you to take the stand and testify in a case against you? If you choose not to testify in a hearing against can the jury take that as evidence of guilt? If so does that mean Lois Learner was guilty on the face of her pleading the 5th?

Oh I am sure the could come up with asserted accusations that would be the LEAST difficulties. So if a Republican House wants to know what is going on internally in the Biden White House you'll be OK with them demanding they turn over their communications and the staff be but under oath before them and if they refuse to testify throw them in jail.

This is what I don't get about you guys, you are so shortsighted. You want to violate the Constitution now thinking it won't be later by the opposing party.

I don't want him made a martyr out of it, I ain't on that bus. I want the Bill of Rights upheld and the Constitution upheld, you should get on that bus.

Can you once and for all clearly explain what it is you think happened here that the FBI, the DOJ, the DHS, DC police, the CH police and those local prosecutors have not found but this Congressional commission is going to find.

All of those criminal investigative bodies have been involved in what many have called the largest national investigation of it's kind in our history. They have been investigating EVERYTHING. Interrogating the people involved. Charging them with crimes. So when has Bannon been charged with a crime? You don't think all those agencies would not have loved to gotten something on Trump with their histories? What charges have to made against Trump? Anyone in the White House? Who has been indicted? Heck they haven't even had anything to leak to the media.

AG Garland testified today they have not been able to charge anyone with insurrection, there is no evidence of an insurrection or a conspiracy to overthrow the government.

So what is this commission all about?

He was not an advisor on 1/6. For the tenth time, Bannon is not claiming the fifth. He’s more than welcome to though. Why are you playing lawyer for him?

    He didn’t do anything illegal
But also he can’t testify because it might send him to prison?

    hows that logic work exactly?

It looks like Bannon is going to have to whether he wants to or not. It look likes he can't get out of it now.

Since the power of congress is actually to make "law", their power is far from nil, just because they cannot usurp the authority of the executive branch.

Steve Bannon, a some-time adviser to former President Donald Trump, was held in criminal contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas from a panel investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, a move that puts the Justice Department in the middle of a politically charged legal battle.

That bum (Bannon) is going to have to face the music and that's all there is to it. What does it tell you?

Why does the left drool over the destruction of freedoms andthe constitutional powers that protect citizens from the abuse of government?

I have a hard time following your reasoning.

You support Trump, almost without reservation, who mobilized gigantic resources to prove an imaginary voter fraud and still continues to perpetrate this lie.

But you blame the Democrats for investigating an riot to overturn a democratic election that has no parallel in the country's history.

Do you believe yourself when you proclaim yourself the defender of the Constitution?

Bannon has never been interviewed by the FBI, nor has Trump, Marc Meadows or Jeffrey Rosen for that matter.

I can't wait to hear them come out and tell us how Trump thought he was firing half the DOJ to stage a coup.

After that, there may be some criminal charges filed against these people who wanted to trample the Constitution.

You can't be against that, you who claim to defend it.

    False.

Not accusing the rioters of insurrection is a strategic decision that aims only to win in court.

Otherwise, a case would have had to be built around sections of the law that have hardly ever been tested in court.

The important thing is that the MAGA who stormed the Capitol have to go to jail in 250 years..

    Know the truth.

It's hard to win in court with false charges. Thanks for pointing that out.

Liz Cheney calls out Jim Banks for falsely signing letter as the ranking member of January 6 committee

(CNN)GOP Rep. Jim Banks lamented on the House floor that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi prevented him from serving on the House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol on Thursday.

And yet, Banks sent a letter to at least one government agency falsely claiming that he is ranking member of the committee in his signature.

    ...

According to a letter provided to CNN, Banks wrote to the Department of the Interior on September 16 asking to be provided with any information the department turns over to the House committee.

"I ask that you provide me any information that is submitted to the Select Committee. Additionally, please include me on any update or briefing that you provide," Banks wrote.
Banks signed the letter as ranking member of the committee, while admitting that Pelosi blocked his appointment.

    ... https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/21/politics/jim-banks-liz-cheney-jan-6-committee/index.html

 Integrity is clearly something today's GOP is sorely lacking to a great extent. Trump and his craven enablers are absolutely destroying this party.
