That is not what Texas is doing. It is already state land. What they are doing is builiding a road in order to bring the materials in to build the wall. But they are not buying land or using eminent domain to acquire the land. It is only on state-owned land. that is it. It will not be a continuous wall either.

The violent ones return to prohibition areas like Texas anyway, it's the only areas that create the demand that make it worth it to be a repeat violent offender.
As long as prohibition is law of the land, a wall will do nothing because we invite them in for their product.

Actually it is private donors and it’s building on private property whose owners want it. Also there are two seven mile stretches in key heavily travelled areas.

With the way the right spends, that will bankrupt Texas within the month.
DeSantis spent $15 million for 25 heads to be flown across the country didn't he?

Somebody should let Abbot know that Trump already built his big, beautiful wall that he made Mexico pay for.

Building a level high quality road in unbroken country still requires surveying and environmentals and remediation. If its some sort of state park or preserve the requirements are even more onerous. If its near the rio grande or other waterway: still worse.

And I believe the price was for all the walls the state will be building that’s also funded by citizens donations as well. The article mentions two 7 mile stretches of border wall and more is likely coming when negotiations with other private land owners on the border conclude.

Lol in point of fact most of the ones shipped up north stay up north.

The coyotes will always come back, but then we're not talking about them. We're talking about the great masses of economic migrants who plop down in our state and send money back home.
As economic migrants they generally refuse to assimilate. Which means their citizen children act likewise. Then they employ chain migration to get family over who likewise are here for economic gains not because they believe in the nation as a concept.
It causes, amongst other issues, housing, employment, education, and insurance problems.

We'll send them to you, and stats show they tend to squat wherever they first catch a break (normal human behavior) so you'll end up stuck with them whether you like it or not in most cases.
Eventually we'll get the border walled up and that will help quite a bit too, though its a terribly slow process.

It would be so much cheaper and more effective yo build an electrified fence. Oh, I forgot, they have power reliability issues, but that will fix itself and not need any funds.

I'm sure you will, even if it takes every dime you got. I'm only worried about the cartel, and violent repeat offenders. I am for immigration reform especially for those looking for a better life.

So as long as Texas has prohibition, the violent ones will just return to where their business flourishes.

We've got quite a bit more money than 167 million.
One of the reasons it takes so long is because its budgeted. No one is going broke dude.

I know, but my point was that the state of Texas was not buying the land first. It is already state-owned. What they are doing is building the road, which is why it is costing more per mile by Texas than when Trump did his thing. But at the same time, it still does not solve the root problems of illegal immigration, just one symptom of it, and moves people from that location to another.

The Rio Grande borders Texas and Mexico from El Paso to Brownsville. In some places now, it is very shallow, like in the Big Bend area where you used to be able to do white water rafting. No more. But it does not add to the cost of the wall per se, at least not to the topography reports I have seen. We have building up on the bank of the river in places like Loredo and El Paso.

??? Its literally not the first one of these they've built and the process is ongoing IE started. ???

How many safe routes do you imagine there actually are through the southern border? Do you even know what the terrain looks like or where the water is?

they tried this before, but Republicans on the border were not happy with the government stealing their land for the wall

Some of it in the planned zone has to be purchased or acquired by eminent domain IE purchased with a law suit to boot.
Howdy, Texas property law attorney here.

Texas is a state, its not allowed to halt the root cause of illegal immigration IE shitty immigration policies like DACA etm. Yes etm. Etm is a thing too.

Moving people from our state to another makes them not our problem. That's all we're ALLOWED to do.

Yes I'm aware of the geography of my own state, thanks. Building next to a waterway increases costs. You have to build it different, you have to do more surveys, you're required to do more drainage and environmental remediation just for a start. You have to deal with the corps of engineers. ETC.

If it involves private funds on private property with the permission of the property owner, I see no problem with it and I've never met anyone who does. Where can I find someone who objects to that?

We're not allowed to solve the issue. That would take alterations to federal law and executive policies that are not under control of the Texas State Government.
All we can do is bail the water out of our boat and throw it elsewhere. If the feds choose to leave the bilge pumps off, that's not within our control.

It seems you're going to get all that diversity and inclusion that makes us all so strong all to yourselves for a bit. You guys are gonna be jacked to the tits like a bodybuilder at peak roids. So strong. So stunning. So brave.
