Oh those poor, poor drag queens, they just want to read to the children. I know, lets have sex worker story hour next and after that we can teach the kids about donkey shows.
Society gets to do this based on this thing called a social contract. People don't want deviant dehavior flaunted in front of young children or sexual acts flaunted in front of young children. Do whatever you want to do behind closed doors with consenting and mentally stable adults and no one will care. But apparently that is a problem.
To educate children that just because someone is different that doesn't make them something to fear or hate.
So any man dressed as a woman is a "sexual act"? I agree I don't like deviant acts flaunted in front of children but that doesn't stop many people from taking their children to Sunday School so they can be taught that their salvation from eternal hell is through the torture/murder of a man 2000 years ago.
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...roup-sisters-perpetual-indulgence-pride-night And the dodgers cave. Not exactly sure why they were every disinvited. Everyone knows that it's ok to mock christianity. Now, if they mocked muslims, who kill gays just for being gay, then that would've been grounds for a disinvite. But christianity can be mocked without worry as much as they like.......
Does it mean we should honor and respect them BECAUSE they are different? Does it mean we should teach our children to emulate them because they engage in deviant behaviors. Should we be teaching them that mocking a religion and women is something to be enjoyed and entertained by?
Why do you assert that worshiping in a religous faith is deviant behavior? It is quite normal in the United States and around the world. Trying to equate the less than 1% of men who want to pretend to be women with people of religoius faith is totally nonsenicle desperation to defend the indefensible.
Both should! But BY FAR teachers are more likely to commit sexual acts with minors! Sexual Abuse by Teachers is on the Rise - The Children's Center for Psychiatry, Delray Beach, FL (childrenstreatmentcenter.com) One would have to dig PRETTY DEEP to find that sort of number(s) for clergymen.
From your own post Now I don't know about you but worshipping torture (it is what Jesus allegedly went through) is departing for our "usual or accepted standards" in our social behavior. Worshipping the idea that someone else can be punished for your crimes (again, what Jesus allegedly did) is departing for our "usual or accepted standards" in our social behavior. Just using the definition you provided.
https://churchexecutive.com/archives/child-sexual-abuse-insurance-the-landscape-continues-to-change Shocking isn’t it — that a tax exempt organization would need such a thing. But drag queens are the REAL issue.
I think it is also probably true for Catholic schools. There have certainly been several examples of sexual abuse at Catholic schools, but I know of none at drag shows.
Not necessarily. If other invited LBGT+ groups remained, then all that says is this particular group was a problem. Being LBGT+ does not mean a person or group can't be arses (*cough* Mulvaney *cough*). There are those out there of every group that can make the majority of the group look bad. I would never have a problem uninviting such people or groups while keeping the good ones.
If it were simply that people didn't care, then we wouldn't have all these issues. But when people "care" enough to assault gays and trans for simply being gay or trans, when they are denied jobs and housing for simply being gay or trans, when they are denied anything a cis het person gets only on the basis of being gay or trans, then that's not people not caring. That's people actively acting against them. LBGT+ people wouldn't have to put forth this kind of effort if other didn't care, because then they would be left alone.
The groups they criticized are bigoted and are far more of a threat to children than the drag queens are.
