The punishment for a black person touching any weapon - just touching it - was being hung/lynched. What penalty do you want against a poor black person who has a gun and didn't pay the tax? One may believe that owning a gun makes it 3 times more likely to be a victim. This belief would require ignorance of facts not disclosed in the "study". If one uses a gun in self defense, it still counts as a homicide. If a clerk shoots the armed robber, it still counts as a "gun death" If you remove these justified homicides from the stats, guns are are used more often to save a life. This is why researchers refuse to release the data used in these studies. Research proves that being right-handed makes you 9 times more likely to be a victim of gun crime.

No, its not just "inner cities". From the FBI UCR, violent crime is very highly correlated to city size. The USA has many more very large cities than other nations, and its the very large cities that drive the national statistics. For cities with populations >1 million the violent crime rate is 687, for 500k-1 million its 836, for 250k-500k its 708. But as soon as the city size drops below 250k, the violent crime rate plummets. Once you get out of the large cities, the USA is as safe or safer than other nations.

The crimes rates are higher for blacks from what I've seen and poor black areas tend to have higher crime rates. Therefore, the necessity of personal defense firearms is higher in those black communities. I seem to remember a federal court ruling backing up my view of that, when a city banned people who live in the projects having firearms - a program you clearly supported and the federal court prohibited. As much as you may personally despise black and poor people, that does not change all people have the same rights including for self defense - like it or not.
