My experience and observation confirms that there is never a need to hit a small child and never an excuse to strike an older one. Little children don’t understand why the parent that they depend on for everything would hurt them. And you end up showing and, teaching older children and teenagers that you lack discipline.

Small children understand exactly why they are being spanked because it’s explained to them directly. By engaging in spanking you are demonstrating discipline, by engaging in an unpleasant but necessary action that builds a stronger more disciplined child. By not doing so, you are spoiling them and doing them a disservice creating a weaker adult.

 

Im not sure, generally, your premise is true. But, I think the lack of parental involvement in our children’s lives has more to do with it than a lack of physical discipline.
