Starting this Monday it is mandatory -- by order of a judge -- that anyone even walking outside must wear a mask in Houston, Texas. The problem with that? There are . . . no . . . masks. Hey . . . no problem! If you do not have a medically approved mask you can use a banana instead. No . . . that was not a typo. Clearly the judge -- or the clerk responsible for the notice -- meant bandana, but banana it turned out for the public's -- er -- consumption. For once, I kid you not.

So anyway, obviously simply everyone has a whole drawer full of banana -- er -- bandanas stuffed away for this exact emergency . . . not. It just goes to show that it's one hell of a lot simpler to create a ruling based on a perfect scenario than it is to actually -- you know -- get educated on the subject and then think your way through it. Anyway, anyone appearing in public without their mask or banana/bandana face a one thousand dollar fine. Yessssssssss . . . fine people who have missed out on their last couple of paychecks due to a nationwide panic attack and because they either do not have premade masks on hand or the items or the personal knowledge to hand make their own substitutes.

What has Houstons Dem Party mayor said in response to this ruling? Zip, nada, nothing -- par for the freaking course.

Myself? I am a former enlisted man -- the Navy -- I am sewing up my own bananas/bandanas from old table cloths sacrificed for the cause. Meanwhile everyone should carry on per normal . . . meaning set aside thought in favor of . . . panic!

Actually, that is a very cool idea of yours. Bravo.

Here where I live it is also mandatory as of Monday to wear masks.

    Should I send you one?

    20200425_113716.jpg

the cloth masks are from a seamstress shop in Bonn that completely retooled and right now, all they are making is masks, like 24/7.

The disposables are from a company called LERROS, they deliver across the world, and they have a good supply right now.

And dude, wearing masks is not panic. It is probably going to become the new normal for a good, long time. And if it means that it saves your life, then I would say it is worth it to wear the mask. Every life that we can save from this scourge, we must save.

I look like a banana on a bike with high viz, he was probably thinking everyone should take this moment to get a motorcycle and helmet (mostly useless unless you sneeze).

I bought a chamois, makes a great "banana."

I truly think some peoples partisan mindsets are affecting their rational thought process.

We’ve had that requirement around Florida for over a week now. You get used to it. No big deal. It’s like requiring people to wear shoes in restaurants.

Is it really any different from requiring people to wear shoes in restaurants?

All the federales say, Poncho made his own bandanas, too, out of kindness I suppose.

It kind of inspires me to go rob some place, just to get an idy how it feels, but everything is still on lockdown.

You go outside for a walk, even in a rural area and you are required to wear a mask? My guess is, this ain't gonna fly.

I found pulling one of my wife's thongs over my head tends to keep people much more than six feet away.

If none of them have shoes . . . then no. "We know that none of you have shoes but we are still going to fine you a thousand dollars . . . unless you wear bananas on your feet."

So our argument seems to be that no-one is is creative enough to come up with mask of one sort or another?
Dude - the internet says, "Hold my beer ...".
    Google "improvised masks".

Yes, because everyone has the same abilities and degree of creativity and on-hand resources. I mean I'm going to be fine, but a huge number of people are not come Monday. One wonders if the already overworked police are going to bother ticketing people. Things could get . . . interesting.

In my town, bandanas are readily available for $1.

    Spend a dollar. Problem solved.
