Why? Kim Jong-un had his uncle and his half-brother assassinated. Why should he be, on the other hand, utterly impervious to any harm?[/QUOTE] And as I said above, it is unlikely that the nukes and missiles reach NK by sea but rather overland from China.
So tell me. How possibly do you read that as me saying I "completely trust the judgment of NK's dictator"? How do you possibly read that as saying I "have no trust in our own system of government"? Observant. So what? If Kim starts a nuclear war, he knows he is signing his own death warrant. If donald does, he and his family will be fine.
You trust that an irrational, complete dictator who has executed people with an anti-aircraft gun will be rational enough not to launch a nuclear missile but you were fearful that the President of the United States will start WWIII ending with great harm to our nation. You are assuming that there won't be any adverse political, economic or military reactions if the US launched a preemptive nuclear strike on a two-bit nation.
It's not a matter of trust. It's a matter of logic. Though neither one is particularly fit for office, IMO, if Kim starts a nuke war, he knows he's executing his own death. If donald starts a war, he knows he and his family will be fine. How am I assuming that?
Dude, you are free to call it a unicorn if you wish, but that doesn't make it so. How can you be so positive to know that "he and his family will be fine"? Have you not thought out the global economic, political and military ramifications of the US launching nukes at another nation? Have you not thought through the probable reactions of Russia and China, not to mention our own allies and trade partners, to such an action? Heck, we have some nations threatening to cut off trade because Trump called them shitholes. What do you think the reaction would be if he just starting launching nuclear missiles for fun?
Now you're just being silly. donald and his family are in no danger if he starts a war with NK. Sure they will be consequences. Scores or hundreds of thousands may die, but I doubt that bothers donald much. Psychopaths like donald lack an ability for empathy. His calculation will be whether it benefits him politically.
Dude, you are free to believe Kim isn't a nutjob and won't do anything rash, but that Trump will. You are free to believe that a US nuclear strike on another nation won't have any long term political, military and/or economic ramifications. You are free to believe that, no matter what Trump does, he'll be fine. I disagree for the aforesaid reasons.
Actually if his calculation was whether it benefits him politically the would be at least comfortingly rational. Suspect there is little actual calculation and more ego than anything. Trump needs to win no matter what the actual consequences or rational considerations.
This isn't China's problem. The fact that the " Great Negotiator"can't actually get China or Russia to help is Trump's failure which is about the same as the previous two President's failures.
The last three presidents had the luxury of kicking the can down the road because north korea would not have nukes that could reach the US till they were out of office Trump faces the consequences of their failures
This is just mindless anti trumpism If trump were not president kim would still be flaunting his growing nuclear power and you would be silent
You're welcome. Even the dumbest, most narrow-minded Americans are free to believe as they wish even if it's "the Moon Landing is Hoax" or the CIA killed Kennedy.
Of course I'm shocked and scared with such a prospective. My heart will be broken, have no idea what would I do without such smart and intelligent conversation.
I have to advise you again to follow the point of the coversation more carefully. I haven't brought the subject of who is a peaceful nation here, @AlphaOmega did it. I'm still interested to find out why some nations are called peaceful here and another ones are not. For example, someone may say - Japan is a peaceful nation and it's obvious. But I would like to ask - why? What makes Japan peaceful? Which features, what criteria? Then someone else says - Kim is a serial killer, and it's obvious. Why it's obvious? Why is he a serial killer? If there is no explanation why Japan is a peaceful nation (and North Korea is not) and Kim is a serial killer (and Trump is not) - and we all are supposed to take it just because it's "obvious" - then I have to suppose this is propaganda not based on facts. It's just labels, propagandous cliches, not truth. You think it's obvious - why? Because your TV said it to you? And there is no any other reason?
Im sure you wouldnt. Like most leftists...lost without the right holding their hands. So if you could manage not saying I said things that I didnt that would be great. mmmkay?
Japan has not always been peaceful, but since 1945 they have been. They have not attacked another country. They have not behaved in a belligerent or threatening manner toward another country. They are also peaceful internally. If you do not agree that they are a peaceful country give your reasons. Regarding Kim I would not use the term "serial killer". He is a killer similar to Stalin but with far fewer victims to his credit, at least so far. Their are prison camps in NK where people - mostly political prisoners - are worked hard and fed poorly. Many die from this treatment. Kim is responsible for those deaths. He is also in the habit of executing those close to him who he has lost trust in for whatever reason. NK does not qualify as a peaceful nation. They invaded SK starting a war that is not over yet. Since the truce in 1953 they have been constantly belligerent and threatening to SK, Japan, and the US. They have shot down a US aircraft, sunk a SK ship, fired on a SK island, fired missiles over Japan, and kidnapped Japanese citizens. Now they are building nukes and threatening to nuke the US. If you do not agree that NK is not a peaceful country state your reasons.
