Thanks for the story. I won't even try to connect it to my post, though.

I provided an opinion. It disagreed with yours. That is the American way.

Of course you have them so called stories passed down from generations, that do not come with what they did with those native Americans.

Did I? You go quote me on that or else that tin foil hat is all yours.

BBC reporting that TWEEEEELVE US military have been killed in those suicide bomb attacks.
The rivals of the various sects and tribes and eventerror groups are emerging in full effect. Taliban may have taken over Afghanistan.......but they don't have any structures in place to govern or control these divisive sects.Terrorists seem to have money........and the TAliban needs money.

    A formula for continued disaster.

How stoopid does one have to be
to remain stuck in a hot war zone
    like Afghanistan.

    No Sympathy!

    Speaking of stoopid
did the military polish all those gifted military equipment
    rather than destroy it?
I mean if some didn't work over a bad spark plug
would not be good for the :flagus: reputation.

    Moi :oldman:

    Even :flagcanada: could
    have done it better!

Kinda late to worry about the US "reputation" now. The deterioration started with the Bush wars......... , was tarnished further by the Trumptactics.........and now punctuated by this mess. The trajectory has been there for some time.

Well for one thing, the reason why Indians massacred whites is because whites trespassed on Indian lands. That's why forts had to be built...Ya know, to protect whites from Indian massacres.

According to the colonists, the half breeds were immune to measles, but the natives were not - so millions died. I gather it was the same with smallpox which was quite common in the colonies.

The worse thing the colonists did, was force the tribes to go west and face the Comanches - who were the cruelest and the most formidable of the savages. Mercy was unknown to them. It was because of them that the Spanish never settled in our Middle West.

To defeat them, Teddy Roosevelt eliminated their food supply by hunting and killing off the buffalos.

This is Quanah Parker, the last chief of the Comanches. His mother was an English child that was kidnapped by one of the Comanches. After Quanah surrendered, he became the primary emissary of southwest indigenous Americans to the United States legislature.

In civilian life, he gained wealth as a rancher, settling near Cache, Oklahoma. Though he encouraged Christianization of the Comanche people, he also advocated the syncretic Native American Church alternative, and passionately fought for the legal use of peyote in the movement's religious practices. He was elected deputy sheriff of Lawton in 1902.

Good book. Comanche were badass. I remember when they raided John Wayne's brothers ranch and stole Natalie Wood. Like to have never found her.

Deja vu.............(Reminiscent of the Bush rhetoric _)

.......As Afghanistan morphs into a collection of terrorist groups, and various tribes that don't get along.

    Let the infighting begin...

Hopefully this country is ready for an influx of refugees from Afghanistan.

He has been known to plagiarize in the past. I listened to his threat and Remembered how important regional intelligence is, eyes on the ground, and we sort of left ourselves a bit short of that when we pull out.

I read that book and really enjoyed it. Another one about Kit Carson and manifest destiny is Blood and Thunder. An extraordinary man.

ISIS-K didn't aim to attack just Americans - it also wanted to embarrass the Taliban

The Islamic State Khorasan, or ISIS-K, the terrorist group behind the Kabul suicide bombing Thursday that killed U.S. Marines and dozens of other people and derailed the Afghan evacuation, is a competitor of the Taliban — and even more extreme.

The Taliban has demonstrated, for years, that they could raid Pakistani military bases, air bases, and police stations. Pakistanis have nukes. Its always worried me that once we left, they would begin raiding Pakistan again and grab a nuke or two or three. Perhaps the Chinese stepping in will keep this from happening.
