Ah yes, screw data based metrics and listen to a coal industry lobbyist. That makes perfect sense in bizarro clown world.

Its not like we don't know how to reduce pollution. Here in Liberal-land, they are still driving their single occupancy vehicles to work and back while buses and trains are almost empty. CA is also home to some of the most toxic beaches. It does not appear that any party gives a damn about the environment or our health.

Yeh, extreme population density comes with its shortfalls — that why I live about 45 mins away from a major city. I get my undisturbed mountain views and can enjoy the benefits of the city.

From your graphic though, it looks like things are improving, or at least they were till about 2016. I am not aware of that side of the nations local politics — what happened around that time?

The policies involve high taxes combined with poor results. Its the same with our schools, roads, poverty, homeless, etc.

"The Los Angeles-Long Beach metropolitan area had the worst ozone pollution in the nation between 2015 and 2017, and also ranked among the worst in terms of particle pollution, or soot, according to an American Lung Assn. report released today."

    https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-los-angeles-air-ozone-pollution-20190424-story.html

On a positive note, air quality has been great since Covid19

Incredible!!! Air quality instantly degraded the instant Trump became president? That dudes a god among men and controls nature. What can’t he do? Oh yeah. Help the economy. That’s all Obama’s doing , until about February this year when the virus hit. Now it’s all Trumps economy. Do I have your line of logic down or did I miss some crazy sprinkled in ;)

I specifically asked what “local politics” could have led to the increases. I never mentioned trump... I wasn’t referring to your orange god, you can relax.
Is it reading comprehension issues or tds o_O

The virus (or threat of) has improved much in our world — nature seems to be loving it. Why did the results of those items (except homelessness, that has been increasing yearly for decades) suddenly spike around 2015-2016?

I know y’all have some crazy policies out there but the referendums seem to usually be a culprit.
Cost of living was insane when I was out there around 2012. Million dollar studio apartments, no thanks.

trump wasn’t even president in 2016 — maybe y’all should try to read instead of blaming others for the eternal victim complexes.
    Just some friendly advice

I don't know. AQMD posts warnings for elderly and those with respiratory conditions to stay indoors on heavy smog days. Sadly, the air is clean and those people still have to stay indoors! D'oh!

What is being presented as concern for the environment appears to be a concern for power. Neither party seems to give a damn. Its not the orange god, its the green one! Money!

It’s always been the green one. The orange one is just a symptom

Picking between one that makes partial commitment vs the one that actively and enthusiastic rolls back commitments is another issue.

Im not a fan of either party, but seeing the results of a Democrat super majority, I can see why people support him. He is the lesser of evils.

Democratic president and a split congress seem to be the best option I have seen but I have a relatively short timeframe. Either party with a super majority seem to be a bad thing.

I disagree he is the lesser of two evils though, what his administration has made acceptable or a defense will have long term repercussions.

So you think the EPA is one man and could not answer about the Clean Air Act...

    Why do you bother replying?

Same reason you keep deflecting I guess.
If you don’t believe the head of an organization has tremendous power they can exert on their subordinates, then you might be a Republican.

"Those warmer temperatures contributed to the rise of ozone levels in many places in the US, the report found, affecting more than 137 million people. "

    What Trump policies caused that?

"The heat from increasing climate change also contributed to wildfires, especially in western states, which spiked particulate pollution levels to dangerous levels, the report said."

PG&E just paid a HUGE amount for their mismanagement which caused those wildfires and read several stories about people getting arrested for starting many of them including some environmentalist. What did Trump have to do with that?

But I guess we can get rid of those expensive catalytic converters on our cars, and carbon scrubbers on smokestacks since they don't seem to be working.

Petty deflections are not against forum rules or there would be less red around here.

As for your question as to “Was the Clean Air act that has been followed written by the coal industry?”, whatever that means — seeing that the head of the EPA is a coal lobbyist the rollbacks definitely have been.
