    Single payer removes the middle man - insurance companies.

    Why are you ok with paying taxes, premiums, copays, deductibles, prescription fees, etc, when you could both cut cost and "refinance" to a much lower rate and only pay one much smaller bill?

    Total idiocy on behalf of those who are against single payer.

    As far as I'm concerned, we're not told the truth of any of it. Here's what needs to happen - and then I will address your question.

    1. We need to see a comprehensive breakdown of premiums paid to insurance companies by all companies and individuals country wide.
    2. We need to see a comprehensive breakdown of all tax related expenditures for the insurance market - subsidies, on both sides, for example.
    3. We need to see a comprehensive number on the total amount paid out of pocket for portionally covered medical expenses.
    4. We need to see a real number that shows the out of pocket paid by americans on copays and deductibles.

    It's easy to say "well, the cost of this is too high" but we don't actually ever discuss the true cost. As far as medicare is concerned - it's an issue of a couple things; but principally, medicare being unable to bargain for better prices is a massive issue.

    Free market healthcare has failed. Let's truly delve into the numbers and have an honest discussion about it.

    The non-binding resolution, sponsored by Louisiana GOP Rep. Clay Higgins, passed 244 to 35 with 133 voting present -- and Republicans may “weaponize” the vote against Democrats. The measure extols ICE for countering the narcotics trade and applauds its efforts in rescuing people caught in human-trafficking schemes
