Like when BLM and Antifa attacked Government facilities around the USA this past year? Need to jail Antifa for torching a Federal court?
Absolutely we need to jail Antifa for burning a Federal Court. What asinine point are you trying to make, Robert? What-about-isms are really poor talking points. Each illegal act lives on it's own - you don't forgive a bank robber because some other bank robber wasn't caught.
I saw it on TV. There certainly was violence but I didn't see an attempted coup. I saw a bunch of people enter the capitol in an unwelcome manner. Time to read up on the meaning of a political coup d'etat.
No one is forgiving one because of another. People just want the same crimes treated the same. Don't forgive one, or punish one, because you agree, or not, with their message. Don't forgive one bank robber because they give money to the poor and punish the other because they robbed you.
If President Obama had called a crowd of Antifa to a rally on the day Trump's victory was certified by Congress in 2017, and told the VP Biden to stop the certification, and told the crowd that the election was a fraud and told them to march to the Capitol and part of the crowd entered the Capitol to stop that certification ... I'd say the Congress had a legitimate shot at Impeaching Obama.
Careful. That's an easy thing to say when your side has a little power. But what happens when this 'drive then into the sea' rhetoric leaves all of these [heavily armed] people believing you really mean it? What do you expect they'll do when the power swings back their way?
But this is nothing like China. Nothing at all. The computer world has been an almost entirely liberal undertaking. Conservatives have only been able to make a presence on the internet because of the infrastructure created by mostly liberal leaning individuals. Many of the innovators who have created the computer world have been dismayed and distraught at what conservatives have done to their baby. Originally the ideas behind the personal computer, and the internet, was to create a community of the free exchange of data and ideas. It was thought that the internet would bring all the wisdom of mankind to the masses. It was to be an open community, where all were accepted, where all could benefit equally. But the problem was that the early computer world was full of people like me, idealist young people who thought that the pursuit of knowledge and greater understanding were noble pursuits. That an educated citizenry is a desirable trait. But, alas, the world is not like that. Over the years the internet has been defiled with misinformation. The fact check sites are overwhelmed. It is as if nothing can be trusted anymore. In the industry journals, not long after the Trump came to power, there began to be discussions about what the computer industry could do, to block the excessive misinformation without limiting legitimate information. The current bannings are part of that effort, perhaps the result. It began just by tagging misinformation, and then the full blocking. At first they defiled the radio, and then television. The same defilement has spilled over into the internet, but unlike the radio and television, the internet is fighting back, and it is about time.
Curt Schilling had his insurance cancelled due to his social media profile. Every thing left seems to be discriminating against everything right. Such hate.
They already showed us what happens when the power swings their way, that is why we must prevent it going forward. Some simple — and completely constitutional — changes would almost completely wipe out the extreme branches of the trump party (please note I am not saying conservative). Proportional rebalancing of the HoR, elimination of partisan gerrymandering, automatic voter registration and early voting.
