No it hasn't. Obviously you have no idea about the NYC/NY/NJ area.

and so does amazon what I gave was entry level pay. distribution centers have more then just warehouse pickers and shippers they also have management and many other higher paying jobs

am I concerned about smaller retail stores being uncompetitive with Amazon yes but that concern is quickly forgotten when I paying up to 50% less from Amazon
give you a prime example went to the local electronics supply store here intown to pick up a Aux to RCA splitter to hook up a sound bar
the local supply store was out of stock and they was asking 6 dollars for it so went on amazon found it for 2.50 with free shipping had it in two days

Many of the hurdles we encounter in NYC are due to bureaucrats. We use expediters who's only function is to walk projects through the maze of regulations. Just getting a dumpster permit is a major undertaking. We don't deal directly with unions but they also have to be taken care of before any construction begins. During construction they can also be responsible for work stoppages, sabotage and other headaches that end up costing jobs time and money.

Not if you are a socialist. Socialism doesn't have companies in the sense that we think of them. AOC managed to keep one away from her grateful constituents. Nobody there wants the landscape sullied by a big corporate headquarters, no matter how many jobs are involved.

25,000 jobs and $10,000,000,000 over the next 20 years in generated revenue. No, I’m sure they want nothing to do with that... lol. Socialists are buffoons as well, so I guess AOC would seem brilliant to them

You might want to talk to Gov. he is in a crisis at the moment because of all the businesses and wealthy people leaving because of the massive tax burden the left has put on them

AOC is like a little kid playing with matches in a barn filled with hay. She'll burn everything down in the end. She is just too stupid to understand all the damage she is doing.

idc what 'they' say... i'm glad my utilities won't sky-rocket, we already have exorbitantly high rates here... besides, plenty of jobs here in ny, we ain't hurtin in that regard, heck union hall benches are emptied and in need of new members because they are all busy working the endless construction projects here... amazon can go 'fly it's kite' somewhere else...

He seems overly invested in the project. And Amazon ran away too quickly.

Amazon used the publicity stunt to try to milk NYC for all they could get. It doesn't appear that there was a 3rd of 4th place finisher as they have abandoned the entire HQ2 project based on a few months of local opposition.

Plain and simple, Democrat controlled states are not business friendly. Look at the proposed high speed rail system in California, same story. They strap so many restrictions on every move that it becomes impossible to get anything accomplished. I found this out while trying to do business in California. They have bureaucrats stacked 4 deep. Not only did I have to deal with federal EPA people, they also had EPA bureaucrats at the state, county, and city levels. It makes it very expensive and nearly impossible to get anything done.

I also like the way AOC refers to Amazon as "worker exploiters". Paying people to work for you is worker exploiting? A good many of these jobs were in the 6 figure category. With this type of attitude towards business, why would anyone want to locate there.

This fiasco will also likely bankrupt some people. A lot of people bought into and renovated property and businesses near this location in the belief that this was a settled deal. The proposed project caused an increase in property values of as much as 25%. Considering the inflated value of property in this area already, that is a lot of money to lose.

The tax bill calculated out to $30 billion for Amazon over ten years. NYC gave Amazon a $3 billion tax break down to $27 billion to be paid by Amazon to get the deal.

The NY pols were getting 90% of the loaf. 90%! And on an established company that would have followed through. Close to zero risk!

And they moaned and whined and raised hell -- and have lost $27 billion dollars and 25,000 jobs.

$27 billion won't be coming in, nor all that went with it that was so advantageous to NY.

    This was mad cow disease.

He was hoping to have an accomplishment he could point to for reelection. He counted on comrade DeBlasio which was not very wise.

I’m not referring to just amazon. There is a massive budget short fall because of the high taxes the leftist have put on income and businesses. People and businesses are fleeing:

that's the price of 'knee-jerkin' like the stock market does... those idiots that counted the chickens before they were hatched deserve to lose their money... the fun is seeing how long it takes to level out those faux values, if at all...

That is a pretty narrow mined view. These are the people who keep that union hall empty by hiring them to do their renovations. If they can't turn a buck, your buddies get to ride the bench looking for work.

we all take risks, sometimes we win, other times we lose... that's life, but i'd suspect many will sue the city/state, settle and then they'll be all smiles, that is until they see their new tax bills to cover city losses from those suits... did i mention i love stupid, it's so entertaining...

With young blacks & Hispanics still unemployed at higher than average rates, I’m sure many of them would have appreciated a good job.

Speaking of taxes, get ready to pay more. I see Cuomo tried begging Trump to bail him out but was told to buzz off. It seems all that free stuff must have a cost. Especially after all those rich guy write off their losses, the tax pot shrinks.

    Boycott Amazon.

Create 25,000 jobs to destroy 100,000, replace them with robot slaves when convenient. Use welfare off the tax payers to boost your stock price, become too big to fail. When the stock market drops, force the government to write a check for a trillion dollar bailout. Five generations of Americans pay for Bezos to fly in his private jet. All for junk electronics built by children, atrociously formatted books, and other bullshit to be delivered to your door.

Much rather see the investment go to low interest loans for small business start ups.

and so would all of the other businesses that would have benefited from a thriving community all made possible by Amazon moving into Queens.

"I don't believe raising taxes on the rich," Cuomo said. "That would be the worst thing to do. You would just expand the shortfall. God forbid if the rich leave."

The left in NY would rather them be unemployed and dependent then actually working. The problem is the State is running out of money, because the tax base is running out of the state.
