Good. That makes you the exception to the dismal rule.

You can both thank a liberal for the Freedom of Information Act. Conservatives fought it tooth and nail.

We have better employee rights and our infrastructure is fine considering the size of the nation.

Educational problem can easily be solved by eliminating the department of education and truancy laws.

As for the rest you have it quite backwards there is in fact a shrinking number of people who are pro faith and anti science. Unless you count the secular left wing which is far more anti science than the religious right.

Of course we recognize history which is why we maintain such a strong military presence in the region where two world wars were fought.

No election has been turned by faithless electors jumping ship, ever. Theoretical problems are, well, theoretical. There is no problem and the EC protects less populous areas from being dominated by two coastal areas of the country. I'm guessing you probably live in one of them.

The principle of fairness for me still stands. If you look at my posts, you will see that I'm not arguing for abolishing the electoral college but reform (though I would dread it being introduced where I live). Second, I don't live in the United States and am not a citizen and frankly, I'm very happy about that fact.

Are we still on separating families? Hard to keep up.

What part of it would need reforming since it works as designed today?
    Frankly, we are too.

I don't want to be rude, but it seems to me you have not been paying attention. I would have the electors not be allowed to vote against the wishes of the voters. The voters are not there to advise. They are the boss.

This is not about a system that works. It's about a principle of fairness. China's system also works you know.

You are patching a tire that isn't leaking, there is no history of your scenario happening and if it made it through Donald Trump then the system is sound. The objection to the EC in America isn't about rogue reps. it's about the left being angry that Los Angeles or New York City can't dictate who can and cannot be President.

    Yes, I am.
In the USA, with mostly Americans.
So, why would someone here, try to change someone's mind about America being superior.
    Seems rather shallow.

To call it murder means you are only passionate about it. Words used tells more than how one uses them.

You keep returning to the argument coming from voters on coastal urban areas. That may be the objection coming from many but not from me. For me it is about a principle. If my objection is not a problem for most American voters, that's fine. I need not worry about it as I live somewhere else. I only express my personal opinion.

    Who? LBJ?

As President Johnson’s then press secretary Bill Moyers recounted: “LBJ had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the signing ceremony. He hated the very idea of the Freedom of Information Act; hated the thought of journalists rummaging in government closets; hated them challenging the official view of reality. He dug in his heels and even threatened to pocket veto the bill after it reached the White House.”

If it makes white Americans feel better about their miserable lives by thinking they live in the best country on earth, let them enjoy their fantasies. We are not the best nor should we constantly harp on trying to claim we are the best, it only shows the rest of the world that we are immature as a nation.

    LOL

    In quality and complexity.

We have the most atrocious costs of health care in the world. Not even close. Literally it’s criminal. NO sane person should support health care in the United States.

And I’m an anesthetist that practices in some of the most difficult procedures mankind does - cardiothoracic, transplantation, etc.

Financially our system is broke... healthcare sucks in the US

you should donate your services, then...or at least take a drastic pay cut. you know, if what you folks do is so sucky.

(let's not delve into how you and your greedy fellow medical professionals could be on the front lines of reducing the cost of healthcare by taking a substantial pay cut. c'mon, take one for the team! The Collective™ will be eternally grateful! besides, who needs all that money!)

I'm only troubled by it as far as there are people going around telling others that the United States is the shining example of how to run a country. People are free to think so, but I take comfort that the Ambassador to my country in the United States is not taking notes on how to run elections.

I'm Indonesian by citizenship and where I live, but born Dutch (Netherlands) and still identify with my country of birth as well as my adopted country.

Well, its always subjective. Some people think Venezuela or the EU is better. The EU gets "free health care" but only takes home about half their paychecks as a result. Wonder how much "free" stuff they would get if the US would ever pull the troops from their countries and make them defend themselves? Some people (who don't live there) actually believe Cuba is better, even though thousands try to escape on trash tied together across 90 miles of shark infested waters every year. Its one of those "grass is greener" ideals that most people wont understand unless they went to actually live there for a few years. But then again, there are still Cleveland brown fans out there, so not everyone will change their minds.

Even though I believe abortion is murder, I don't protest and I don't bomb abortion clinics. I just wallow in sadness.

If we were close to eliminating abortion, I'd be more active. I would volunteer and protest (I still wouldn't bomb the clinics). But since we're not close to eliminating abortion, I'm not wasting my energy. Sooner or later, the public will see abortion as despicable. Probably a couple centuries after I'm gone.
