The Bomb was the ultimate weapon in WW2. We left little doubt they would keep using atomic bombs until Japan gave up. We had one on the way to the Far East when Japan surrendered, We could have had a dozen or more by the end of the year.

 

Lylia Litviak made short work of Erwin Meyer.. as just one example.

Probably the best fighter pilot of the war was a German but he died in Africa when his Messerschmitt's crappy engine came apart on a test flight. What a shame. But then he likes black American Jazz too and he once straffed his commanding officers Tent. But he earned the nights cross of the iron cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds.
Had he not been killed by his plane there is no doubt he would have been the highest scoring ace of the war and likely the greatest fighter pilot of all time.

Hmmm. I'd only slightly disagree and argue that the b-29 was the ultimate weapon but conventional bombs certainly would have taken longer.. i guess they go together the b 29 and the a bomb. We are both right.

 

We suck at wars? We clubbed rome to a pulp, made the vikings our vasalls, crushed the ottomans out of europe, smashed napoleon, crushed the danes. We won most wars we fought in our history.

And even the two we lost, we killed more enemies than we had population.
