    But you do realize those numbers would be relatively the same no matter who is in office right? These numbers were being predicted back in the 80's. It is why they raised the SS threshhold, it is why they, the government, decided to tax SS benefits, it is why the maximum SS tax cap is indexed to inflation, and the list goes on.

    When you are having people live longer, a larger segment of the population retiring because of the huge brith rate in the 1940's, 50's, and early 60's, when you have a declining birth rate since the late 1960's, it does not take any imagination why the numbers are at the levels they are now.

    Never said that.

    The article you posted made generalized comments with a tone of blaming the current administration. You added that blame and specifically blame someone who does not have the power. these numbers have been predicted since the 1980's and that is why the cap on SS taxes was increased signficantly in 1986 under TRA.

    The article states that the labor force participation rate is at 62.4% and the BLS link that I provided shows in its table that the labor force participation rate is at 62.4%.

    That's not verifiable enough for you????

    How many applications have been received by HHS for welfare? The Feds are given more food stamps then any other time in history. But that is BS right, because the economy is rocking and rolling right?

    Baby-Boomer are retiring, and retiring younger.

    hence the Participation Rate is going down.

    Plus, the number of folks on Food Stamps aka SNAP, and the number of folks on TANF aka Welfare is going down, and this is a good barometer of how the workforce is doing.

    To get the full amount on SS you have to retire at 65+. You can retire early and collect SS, but you're going to be penalized for it. You can retire at 60 but you're not going to get the full amount you are entitled to that you would have had you waited tell 65

    US Labor Force does NOT equal US Population.

    Today's population is 321 million.

    the work force is 156 million. that includes working and non-working folks.

    the rest are in the military, children, the elderly, and folks in prison.
