So poor people own controlling percentages of the shares in banks in America??????????????? Do middle income and poor Americans use Derivatives like poker chips to play the stock, commodities and bonds market like being in Vegas????????????
Adding more question marks doesnt suddenly make you right. The money went to the banks for their cash reserves. Nothing more. There weren't any payouts to anyone.
OK? You made the claim that it went to the CEOs, it didnt. It went to the analysts that did the work. Still not sure what this has to do with giving everyone money for nothing at tax payer expense.
Because what I am proposing is NOT at taxpayer expense. It is a replification of the brilliant Greenback Monetary Policy of President Abraham Lincoln that JFK attempted to give to American taxpayers. The History of Banking Control in the United States Written by Alain Pilote on Saturday, 31 August 1985. Posted in In This Age of Plenty (book)
I know now that I owe you an apology Jimmy79. It turns out that you are in many ways closer to the truth on all that happened than I was. So all those question marks....... with my sarcasm..... came back to haunt me! In my defense I do remember the C.E.O.'s attempted to give themselves bonus packages just like usual..... but the backlash was so serious that they had to change their strategy..... and so a high percentage of the bonuses ended up going to workers in the banks who usually don't get quite so many bonuses. I suspect that that is one of the reasons why the package did succeed..... and a potential disaster was avoided..... or at the least postponed. But.... I do believe that the information in that audio - video indicates that something different needs to be done that truly will boost economic growth........ .and an unconditional income supplement to all Canadians and to all Americans ...... deserves serious consideration. I am convinced that this is the best angle to sell it to fiscal conservatives though:
We Canadians can afford it if we will begin to use the Bank of Canada in a manner similar to how we did from 1938 to 1974. If we get this going I suspect that the USA will not be too long following us into some variation of this. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...servative-party.466822/page-2#post-1070680192

Money, money, moolah money. These "money" people are always spouting gloom and doom. This kind of naysaying has been going on for years and it's never been right.
But when we see the timing on how all this works out we are going to be in AWE!!!!!!! http://www.politicalforum.com/index...theory-of-m-w-p.548225/page-4#post-1070682871
You and I both do a lot of volunteerism online attempting to the best of our ability to educate others to what we have found out over the years. I cannot deny that a segment of the population will spend a Basic Minimum Income supplement badly but...... I personally benefit from all the hard work of Canadians and Americans over the past three centuries as our lands were built up to the place where I can jump in my Honda Civic and drive all across Canada and the USA on reasonably good roads. I greatly benefit from the massive amount of hard work done by scientists and inventors who made it possible for you and I to correspond through PoliticalForum. You and I both benefit from the reasonably good level of peace and safety that the RCMP and CSIS here in Canada and the law enforcement agencies in the USA give to you. The Canadian and USA economy are doing so good that a Basic Minimum Income that is UNCONDITIONAL and financed at essentially zero cost to taxpayers, (as can easily be done here in Canada) ..... is a possibility for the future that we need to discuss... because our modern economy takes us beyond the situation that the Apostle Paul faced when he wrote: 2Thessalonians 3:10 "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat."
Money is completely worthless, and a UBI would have zero positive impact on economic growth, because that's not how economics work. Money is a temporary medium of exchange for the command of labor, and the productivity of labor is the sole measure of economic well being. The only reason most people are struggling is because they've become significantly less productive at home, and highly dependent upon the labor of others to meet their basic needs, which significantly increases the price of goods. A UBI is only necessary if you assume that as we progress with automation, individuals will become increasingly less productive and idle, and the means of production heavily consolidated into a handful of major corporations. Everything I've seen in my local community, and read on a more national scale, implies that the exact opposite will happen. Cottage industry is roaring back, the red tide of government bureaucracy that favors major companies is rapidly receding, and the individual is becoming ever more self reliant
Excellent points........ but there is another complicating factor...... we have been creating more debt plus compound interest owing on that debt..... than actual money in the money supply. The Public-Debt Problem Written by Alain Pilote on Monday, 30 June 1986. Posted in In This Age of Plenty (book) If a serious error had not been made by then Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau back in 1974 it might not have been possible to do the same thing in the USA:
Rather than a basic income program, I would rather see a "basic support program" such as Food Stamps for All. With the old rules of American products only with few exceptions such as bananas. Moi

But here in Canada giving five hundred dollars per month to all thirty seven point six million Canadians and financing it through the Bank of Canada would begin to break us out of the serious mess that Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau set in motion for us back in 1974. The diagrams at this link may surprise you!
UBI can succeed if it is financed in the same way that President Lincoln financed the Civil War! Scroll up to post #31 here to see what I mean. Why Universal Basic Income Is a Bad Idea
You are obviously a bright guy Hoosier8..... How to you respond to a BEAR market potentially worse than 1929????? You know that you must respond to a Bear market differently than to the problems with a Bull market? Andy does not seem to be gaining any traction I believe he counted on the "techno youth" to broadcast his message And that has not happened. There doesn't seem to be a candidate that has mobilized the younger folks as Bernie did four years ago. Moi
Interesting..... I shall have to put some thought into how it may be possible to assist him from up here in Canada??!!
