I started it, I read his book and was curious what people thought. It has gotten a lot farther and gone places I did not expect.

 

I could not disagree more with your opinion on this. That same logic can be applied to the EU and I guarantee France would disagree with that statement since it gave up some of its sovereignty in order to enter in the agreement with all those other countries.

The USSR had them, Imperial Japan had them. ISIS called for them.

I have sensed that mine is a minority opinion, particularly among conservatives but i hold to it. The States of the Union were never real separate entities, they never had different and distinct cultures and they never went to war with each other but once, and that was actually a clash of ideologies. In any case the ACW settled all that over a century ago. Nowadays, the States are provinces, states in name only

Exactly what it says, Government can take all of your money and then kill you. They have before at several times and places and they will again at others, maybe here if we aren't careful. We are spoiled in this country in not having any major internal upheavals save one, and that was a Civil War against an ideology that was forced on us by our history.

Warp and Weft is from weaving. It refers to the actual purpose and accomplishment of something. What I was trying to say is that government takes from you what it can and there is really very little you can do about it.

Well, that played a role in our own revolution, right? These days, with national security states, they could crush it, nip it in the bud, before it ever could get organized. We have the most powerful national security state, or at least are at the top. And we only know of some of its capability, thanks to great evil men like assange. Can't depend upon the legacy media anymore for they are, for whatever reason, a part of this State.

Of course we all know our own ruling elite are good people and they would never use the abilities of our national security state against good americans. But the definition of a good american can change. For me, just knowing something of the history of humanity, things can go south in a hurry, given enough fear, and it being stoked.

I won't be around for any of this future possibility, and that is the only good thing about being old and close to the dirt nap. But we have to place faith in humanity, for what else is there to place faith in, unless you are a religious person, believing that some god will see us through, and protect a chosen few?
