Sound like the old adage popular when I was young, "what is good for GM is good for America!"

But it has been replaced with, "what is good for china, a natural enemy to democratic principles, is good for America!"

I have seen this used before, in the interest of big corporations, and it didn't work then, with the democrats, being FDR dems, but the new democrat buys it, hook, line, sinker. I think that party became extremely dumb down, but perhaps they just became the party they were once in opposition to, the GOP....at least on some things, with both being globalists, and having no interest in representing or standing up for average working americans, regardless of race.

The United States Treasury has taken in MANY billions of dollars from the Tariffs we are charging China and other countries that have not treated us fairly. In the meantime we are doing well in various Trade Negotiations currently going on. At some point this had to be done!

He leaves out the inconvenient fact that we are paying those "MANY billions." MAGA seems to like squeezing money out of US taxpayers just so he can feel better about himself.

Already another thread about this: What should Apple do?

I think we came to the conclusion in that thread that Apple didn't deserve much sympathy.

I haven't found the Samsung updates slowing things down..... (knock on wood.) Have you? I've also been pleased with the battery life ---- especially when I spend time with Apple friends who are constantly needing to recharge their phones.

As for "the next greatest thing", I'll never understand those people. If they want to spend 1K on a new phone to feel special, they can have all of them. Maybe what Apple should really be focusing on is making their phones more affordable, and as good as Samsung ;)

I would never touch an Apple device. I don't like being restrained by the company allowing what I can or can't do.

Unfortunately, the rest of my family is firmly in the Apple camp. My 13 year old son got an IPhone 7 for Christmas last year (2017). He was green with envy when many of his friends unpacked their iPhone Xrs this Christmas and posting about it on snapchat. I told him that we cannot afford a $800 phone every year for every family member. In fact, I am pretty sure that most of his friends' families can afford them even much less, yet they buy them for status symbols, no matter if they take on more debt.

I believe that's the reason for Apple's troubles, they are pricing themselves out of the market. Five years ago, the starting price of a new iPhone may have been $350, now it is $750, or more if you want to have decent memory. It is ridiculous.

Myself, I have an android phone (Huawei, I know, I know...) that can do 98% of my son's iPhone 7 at a quarter of the price. Of course, it doesn't have the coolness factor.

The why were you and yours all toughting the tarriffs “success’” when they were first implimented?

I support tarriffs if implemented right. Tarriffs need to be strategic. But Trump picked a fight with the worlds fastest growing economy (China), and somehow doesnt think it will hurt american business ?

Some of Apples woes are caused by their own greed

Americans should be very much invested in the fate of their most successful companies. Apple makes up more than 3% of the S&P. They do share some blame for missed sales due to their pricing and offerings but they are a bellwether (along with US Ag, Harley, GM etc to the harm Trump is going to the economy.

It's not just Apple, Chinese consumer spending is down and we're likely in for a slew of earning downgrades over the next month from US and other companies exposed to China.

Add to that the fact that most of the Chinese companies being hurt are owned by American companies.

China is or was on the road to destroying our economy long term. It's fight back now or accept eventual second rate status to china and be an economic slave to their every whim and whimsy.

Good. **** Apple and their proprietary, no we don’t want you fixing our stuff because we might lose profits, shitty hardware choices (bring back the headphone Jack so most of your competitors will too and I only have limited options to have one), and general overall wack ideas and policies.

Your a crappy company who’s become Microsoft from the 90s

China is and has been usurping our economy by hook or by crook for decades now and at the present rate of attrition it's only a matter of time until they call the shots. Even at this point you can see how we have become overly dependent on them as per the theme of this thread and the left in it running up the white flag of surrender.

If you're seriously concerned about the situation, you'll quit the hyperbole and false accusations against "the left."

But you're not serious, because there is nothing to back up what you're asserting here. China does not call any shots and is not about to. MAGA is erecting a paper dragon to look all heroic "fighting" against, just as he has been doing with illegal immigrants.

Funny how MAGA makes a mountain of a Chinese mole hill but won't say one negative thing about his master in the Kremlin.

    Terrible take.

Apple is dying because Jobs died. Combine mediocre technology with sky high price tags, and low demand is what you get.

Dont need to be a financial advisor to see this company hasnt been doing well.

If he mentioned the word Russia, youd scream collusion.

Bet you would love for him to make a trade deal with the Russians.

Fortunately Trump ignores the hiss of the mob and the howels of their jackal leaders and does the right thing for the right reason.

That’s a big part of it. But Apples bigger problem was they manufacture their wares in China. I dont really have sympathy for them because they took advantage of that labor market to drive profits, then they raised prices to gauge consumers even more. The decision to manufacture in China hurt them because they basically manufacture everything there.
