You have proof that the witness' story isn't concocted?

I'm saying it's awful suspicious this unknown witness named "John" who doesn't want to "appear before camera" shows up to make a "statement" about the case a month later.

Heck. Maybe you and your comrades should send James O'Keefe down there to interview "John"

You mean it came out "in the news" a month later where all this is being tried by the kangaroo court you guys have set up.

Not proof if Zimmerman tailed Martin .....but, that Zimmerman attacked Martin ?

Bottom line: All our speculations are just that: SPECULATIONS !!!

All this requires a TRIAL where the chances of what REALLY HAPPENS is more likely to occur.

Bottom line: Zimmerman unquestionably shot and killed and Martin. He has yet to prove, in a court of law, that he acted in self-defense. Until then, it's safe to say that Zimmerman is a murderer.

the prosecutor determined from evidence and witnesses not to prosecute. I don't see how they're going to be able to stand their ground in the face of this black tide of revenge.

What concerns me is the lawlessness, the threats, the provocation, the inflammatory rhetoric of the NBPs and others on here. You don't know jack and you're ready to allow the nbps to capture and torture and hang. outside the law? This is a nation of laws. NOT a nation of feelings.

. Zimmerman called the police to report Martin’s “suspicious” behavior, which he described as “just walking around looking about.” Zimmerman was in his car when he saw Martin walking on the street. He called the police and said: “There’s a real suspicious guy. This guy looks like he’s up to no good, on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about… These a**holes always get away” [Orlando Sentinel]

    2. Zimmerman pursued Martin against the explicit instructions of the police dispatcher:

    Dispatcher: “Are you following him?”
    Zimmerman: “Yeah”
Dispatcher: “OK, we don’t need you to do that.”

    [Orlando Sentinel]

    3. Prior to the release of the 911 tapes, Zimmerman’s father released a statement claiming “[a]t no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin.” [Sun Sentinel]

    4. Zimmerman was carrying a 9 millimeter handgun. Martin was carrying a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea. [ABC News]

    5. Martin weighed 140 pounds. Zimmerman weighs 250 pounds. [Orlando Sentinel; WDBO]

    6. Martin’s English teacher described him “as an A and B student who majored in cheerfulness.” [Orlando Sentinel]

    7. Martin had no criminal record. [New York Times]

    8. Zimmerman “was charged in July 2005 with resisting arrest with violence and battery on an officer. The charges appear to have been dropped.” [Huffington Post]

    9. Zimmerman called the police 46 times since Jan. 1, 2011. [Miami Herald]

    10. According to neighbors, Zimmerman was “fixated on crime and focused on young, black males.” [Miami Herald]

    11. Zimmerman “had been the subject of complaints by neighbors in his gated community for aggressive tactics” [Huffington Post]

    12. A police officer “corrected” a key witness. “The officer told the witness, a long-time teacher, it was Zimmerman who cried for help, said the witness. ABC News has spoken to the teacher and she confirmed that the officer corrected her when she said she heard the teenager shout for help.” [ABC News]

    13. Three witnesses say they heard a boy cry for help before a shot was fired. “Three witnesses contacted by The Miami Herald say they saw or heard the moments before and after the Miami Gardens teenager’s killing. All three said they heard the last howl for help from a despondent boy.” [Miami Herald]

    14. The officer in charge of the crime scene also received criticism in 2010 when he initially failed to arrest a lieutenant’s son who was videotaped attacking a homeless black man. [New York Times]

    15. The police did not test Zimmerman for drugs or alcohol. A law enforcement expert told ABC that Zimmerman sounds intoxicated on the 911 tapes. Drug and alcohol testing is “standard procedure in most homicide investigations.” [ABC News]

    16. In a cell phone call moments before his death, Martin told a teenage girl that he was “hounded by a strange man on a cellphone who ran after him, cornered him and confronted him.” “‘He said this man was watching him, so he put his hoodie on. He said he lost the man,’ Martin’s friend said. ‘I asked Trayvon to run, and he said he was going to walk fast. I told him to run but he said he was not going to run.’ Eventually he would run, said the girl, thinking that he’d managed to escape. But suddenly the strange man was back, cornering Martin. ‘Trayvon said, ‘What, are you following me for,’ and the man said, ‘What are you doing here.’” [ABC News]

    17. Police have Trayvon Martin’s cell phone but never contacted his girlfriend. [Miami Herald]

    18. Zimmerman told the police “he had stepped out of his truck to check the name of the street he was on when Trayvon attacked him from behind as he walked back to his truck.” “He said he feared for his life and fired the semiautomatic handgun he was licensed to carry because he feared for his life.” [Miami Herald]

    19. The incident occurred in a tiny gated community Zimmerman patrolled regularly. [Miami Herald]

    20. Zimmerman was not a member of a registered Neighborhood Watch group. Zimmerman also violated basic Neighborhood Watch guidelines by carrying a weapon. [ABC News]

    21. The police reports were amended to bolster Zimmerman’s claim of self defense. “Initial police reports never mentioned that Zimmerman had a bloody nose or a wet shirt that showed evidence of a struggle.” [Miami Herald]

    22. Police ignored witness whose account was different from Zimmerman’s.“One of the witnesses who heard the crying said she called a detective repeatedly, but said he was not interested because her account differed from Zimmerman’s.” [Miami Herald]

    23. Just prior to killing Martin, Zimmerman may have used a racial slur. The police admit they initially overlooked the remark. It’s unclear exactly what Zimmerman is saying. [ABC News]

    24. Zimmerman still has a permit to carry a concealed weapon in the State of Florida. [ThinkProgress]

    25. In April 2011, Zimmerman called the police to report a suspicious black male, “7-9″ years old, “skinny build.” [Daily Beast]

    26. Zimmerman’s friend, Frank Taaffe, says Martin was shot because he wasn’t “honest and truthful” with Zimmerman. NBC News reported that Zimmerman called Taaffe to thank him for his support. [Huffington Post; MSNBC]

Bottom line: Your understanding of criminal law is woeful.

The burden of proof lies with the state.

The proof states that Zimmerman shot and killed Martin. That's a fact.

Agreed. To the OP I think Mr Zimmerman is actually Hispanic, btw.

People don't get to wantonly go around engaging in unnecessary conflict and get to use the "stand your ground" rule. It is a travesty of justice that Mr. Zimmerman is not in jail.

We know that Zimmerman is more Hispanic than Obama is black? His mother is from Peru and his father is white.

Do you know what happened? No, apparently you don't. Someone told the police that he saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman punching him in the head.

It is very likely that Trayvon saw a half white man following him and confronted that man. The end result was the death of Trayvon from a gunshot that was due to Trayvon's actions.
What statement from whom would lead you to believe that?

    You down-underers like to torture?

and the rest of us STILL have not seen the actual evidence. Personally i don't see Sanford as being in the can for whitey, Jose in this case. So STOP BLAMING IT ON WHITE PEOPLE!! THEY HAVE to go by the LAWH.

Let me add this. The police did not say, Stand Down. YOu posted what they said above. It was NOT stand down. You don't need to do that. they said. Unfortunate that Mr. Zimmerman could not have foreseen the hornet's nest he was walking into. As well as Mr. Martin.

    He must first be charged....
then enter a plea (guilty, not guilty, not gulty by reason of self defense)...
then the state must prove its case against him.

Zimmerman does not have to prove his plea, just defend it.

Shouldn't be hard to prove given the facts of the case. It would be hard to argue self defense when trayvon was shot in the back. But where is George now? It appears he fled the area and now there is a reward leading to his capture.

And he will be charged. The good people of this country are in the process of making sure justice is served. He cannot claim self-defense when he instigated the confrontation; getting your ass kicked because you started a fight with a 140 lb kid that you could not finish is not "self-defense."

I can't believe I'm reading this! Deadly force was unnecessary because was running away. Not to mention George was told not to follow Trayvon. If anyone had a right to defend himself it was Trayvon.

I have no first hand knowledge of the case, so I cannot speculate to what is "hard to prove/argue"

    nor do you...
    nor does your lynch mob.

Actually, this case is a slam dunk. Mr Zimmerman gave us a bunch of audio and there is a bullet in the back Trayvon. The only thing that is missing is video footage, though the facts of the case are easily constructed with the available evidence. Which facts would you like to ignore?

Exactly what I said. Is English your first language, or did you possibly forget to learn reading comprehension during your twelve years of publicly-funded education?

Self defense can only be reasonably claimed by the person attacked, not by the attacker. He can literally say that is his claim, but that is entirely meaningless given the facts of the case.

no beer summit is going to help this. And i hear that Big Ears is out of the country...well how very convenient. So all hell can break loose, vigilante law can prevail and the president can again vote ABSENT.

"Update: The Black Panthers have now placed a cash bounty on Zimmerman's head. Originally it was $10,000, but later Mikhail Muhammad, speaking in Sanford, Florida, announced that he was receiving additional funds from "the black community, athletes, and entertainers as we speak," and anticipated kicking the bounty up to one million dollars by next week.

Hopes that President Obama would be able to defuse the situation with one of his famous "beer summits" were dashed, as Muhammad explicitly stated he will not be mollified by beer or good times."

So...you've tried the case on the internet.... the only evidence entered has been a cocophany of conflicting media reports and histrionics....

and you've determined a murder conviction is a slam dunk

    You're funny....

    no, you're ridiculous.

Again, conflicting media reports and histrionics does not equal "facts"
