FOr the purpose of this discussion, it might be important to point out that "organic" =/= "non-GMO" I sometimes feel as if there is cross-talk because of the confusion on that.

Why are you providing six links to answer one single, pointed question?

At any rate,I skimmed a link (not wasting my time with 6 on a single, direct point), and didn't find anything to support your original claim. And the quotes you pulled don't support your claim, either.

To be clear, your original claim was that organic is LESS safe (or more dangerous), whereas your sources simply state that it hasn't been proven to be MORE safe. The point made by your links is something I would have readily accepted, but your point went beyond the evidence and (I think) can basically be dismissed at this point. You provided six links and didn't back it up, but chsnged the point, right?

And if that had been your daughter telling you the difference in how she feels b/t eating processed and organic? I would think you'd listen to her, realize there IS a difference b/t the 2 and encourage her to keep eating organic....wouldn't you?

"Wishful thinking, placebo effect"....my ass! She's an adult, she knows how she feels after eating both and there's a big difference. Not to mention that her oncologist was very pleased to see the improvement in her health issue. When daughter told her she eats organic, the dr told her to keep eating it. Usually drs don't recommend eating organic b/c there's no $$$ in having healthy patients.

I know the obese will turn up their noses as they waddle their way thru the organic section of store to get to the sodas, chips, frozen foods and pastries section.....and t hat's why they're so overweight and unhealthy - all that processed junk.

I've been eating organic for some yrs now. I'm a grandma and have no health problems, compared to many friends where diabetes is rampant, HPB, high cholesterol, have to take a handful of meds every day, etc.....and these people say the same thing you & others say about organic.

    Anyway.......to each their own.

For emphasis! Enough Sources? Please note I tried to stay away from either organic food sites or anti-organic sites.

In 2015, 7 percent of all recalled foods have been organic, the report’s analysis of USDA and FDA data reveals.

"Organic foods have never been shown to be healthier, more nutritious or more safe than conventional foods," said Avery, "despite dozens of scientific studies. There is no weight that organic is better or healthier for you."

Exactly what I said before still applies. You haven't found anything to back up your original claim. When asked for proof that organic is more dangerous, you just quote someone saying that it hasn't been proven to be more healthy. That isn't proof that it is more dangerous.

Aren't you getting just a tad bit unnecessarily nasty about this? Some eat the processed foods, some eat organic....it's their choice.

My daughter read up on a ton of info about organic vs processed when she got out of the hospital and after she read enuf, she & husband took all the canned, boxed, instant and frozen out of their cupboards/freezer and gave it to the Salvation Army. Restocked w/organic and she's been on the road to recovery since. Hair grew back, immune system back to normal and full of energy.....and she accomplished this by eating organic. They also buy their own 1/2 a cow that's grass fed.....they don't touch meat in the grocery store after they read what the animals are injected with.........neither do I.

The majority of the drs will never recommend eating organic to their patients simply b/c it doesn't benefit them and Big Pharma. Why do you suppose the pharmaceutical companies are multi-billion corporations? Selling their pills, of course.....and they can only push their pills if people are in poor health, usually caused by unhealthy eating and lack of exercise......

Anyway, like I said.....to each their own. It's their choice......

You stated that organic foods are more dangerous. As your proof, you cited sources showing that it isn't more healthy.

There is no logic in that. It has the same logical consistency of.

That organic food hasn't been proven to be healthier is not proof that it is less healthy.

Nasty? No! And to eat the food one wants is the individuals choice. That doesn't stop me from pointing out that no one has proved organic is better, more nutritious, or tastier. And there are boat loads of evidence that is transmits MORE FOOD BORNE DISEASE than standard grown food. GMOs use less herbicides than organic, and are every bid as tasty, nutritious, and are perfectly safe.

You told us you read my link. How did you miss this, the headline of one of them? "Organic Food Has 'Significantly Higher' Contamination, Study Finds
    By Marc Morano | July 7, 2008 | 8:21 PM EDT
"(CNSNews.com) - A new study on food safety reveals that organic produce may contain a significantly higher risk of fecal contamination than conventionally grown produce." Did you actually read the links?

Most in my family have eaten organic 95% of the time for quite a few yrs now and never got sick, but not saying it'll never happen. And seeing how my daughter is now cancer-free and healthy, organic foods certainly didn't do her any harm..she still reads a lot of health articles. One food we keep in our cupboard is pure/virgin coconut oil. Many health benefits in it. She even gave it to her dog who lived to be 80, in human yrs..........

I've read the labels on GMO foods and would not eat it. way to much sodium, sugar and artificial crap....

Anyway, we all make our choices in foods and.....look at the obesity problem that's out there and that's not from eating organic foods.

    Anyway, have a nice evening......

I enjoy anecdotal claims, especially since it can't be proved by rational thinking. I prefer to use BONAFIDE STUDIES using empirical data. My grandfather had Leukemia and in 1938 organic food was all he ate. (anecdote) and it didn't help at all. your daughter was just lucky, and not cured by organic no matter how much you want to believe it.

There's different kinds of leukemia - don't remember what kind she had.

All I'm saying is she researched foods, read up on what kind of unhealthy crap was in processed, etc etc and doing this sure worked for her......

The relative who read up on the Amish and how autism is practically nil among them b/c they grow their own food also go t interested in nutrition, so took a nutrition class at his college. From what he learned, he never again ate at a fast food place - McD's, BK, Wendy's, all of them. Their hamburger is about 1/3 meat - all the rest of it is a ton of sodium, additives, preservatives and chemicals. He said they were told that also one of the worst things a person can eat is white bread.....he was 26 when he took this course and it sure changed his eating. Now he wife and daughter eat organic.....

    1. There is nothing about 'organic' that takes nutrients out of food. It can mean that the product will spoil faster than foods which allow preservatives. Normally the shelf life of berries, exceeds the shelf life of some of the vitamins therein. 2. You need to google 'Molasses'

Please cite where exactly I said, "I read all of your links, beginning to end." Quite simply put - if you want to make an assertion then the onus is on you to provide the evidence. If you provide five links, you should highlight the key information, not just expect to waste everyone's time as they scour for the proof you couldn't find.

In the first case, the only quote you provided to "prove" that organic is worse was a quote which simply said - EIGHT YEARS AGO - that organic has not yet been proven to be healthier. And now the best quote to prove that it is SOOOOOOOOOO much more dangerous you can find is that it "may" contain more fecal matter. Well guess what dude - it "may" be more healthy. "May" indicates that it isn't proof.

You prefer "BONDAFIDE STUDIES" that indicate that x MIGHT BE the case? You've been using "might be" as "resounding proof that it is". You've yet to cite a single "BONDAFIDE STUDY" that proves that organic is more dangerous/less healthy. Yes, you've shown sources about a decade old that say it MIGHT BE less healthy, but that's no "BONAFIDE" proof.

organic food can be just as dangerous as processed food if it is not prepared properly, in 1938 they had more contamination of organic foods especially in poorer countries.

today processed food is proving more dangerous than organic foods because of all the additives and preservatives to make more profits for the big food companies.

one of the reasons why organic food is more expensive is because of the preparation to keep it safe from contamination, and the faster amount of time it takes to rotten which all make companies lose profits.

in poorer countries contaminated organic foods are generally the reason for illness, and in richer western countries processed foods are generally the reason for illness, therefore the best foods are clean organic foods.

i don't have any links for proof, this is just an opinion from analysis using common sense at the moment. good luck in staying healthy.

I have grown a lot of my own food and haven't thought much about organic. A plant can't tell the difference between an organic fertilizer or a petrol based o. But I have found that plants need the organic material in the soil. Humus is required for good food production. I have quit using store bought fertilizer because I get manure for free. Composted manure makes the best soil without additions...unless you have to tirrigate. Within a month or so I will begin selling the best soil money can buy. I just pile on the poop.

Organic food is more expensive because it has to be certified and that takes time and money...and as far as produce is concerned a lot is culled because people that buy organic are very picky....one blemish and it will not sell

Synthetic fertilizers are not derived from or based with petroleum. The closest that is to true is that natural gas is used to to convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form plants can use. There are other ways to do that, but the use of natural gas is the most cost-effective. The Phosphorus in mined from mineral deposits and the potash is also mined from prehistoric gunk settlements.

Still, she was lucky, because diet does little to cure leukemia or even help in the process so long as your food is nutritious, furnishes all the minerals and vitamins the individual needs regardless of leukemia.

Never once said or even implied that her organic diet cured her leukemia. When she was released from the hospital, her immune system was gone due to chemo and was weak and fatigue would set in fast. During her recovery, she researched food - organic vs processed and what she read about both changed her forever about food.

As I had said, one of the things that she noticed was when she'd eat 'bad', like going out for pizza once in a great while, the next day she didn't feel to good and her back hurt her, organic foods never did that to her. That difference b/t organic and processed, I think, is quite revealing about how a certain type of food can affect someone in her condition.......

This is my daughter's story - she's the one who lived it, feeling the difference b/t organic and processed and how it effected her ....and I really don't care if you don't believe it.

It can tell the difference between concentrations of nutrients. Organic fertilizers have very low concentrations unless they are enriched with synthetic additives. Things like composted manure do wonders for conditioning the soil, but you are not going to get even in the ideal N-P-K ballpark for corn organically.
