Armed Individual at Colorado School May Have Prevented Mass Shooting

How could you do that? When I was in high school 63 years ago we made a shot gun, a muzzle loader, a pistol and several what we called zip guns in machine shop class. We were graded on how simple the operation was and the appearance of the firearm.

The shooting was an impossibility, it was in a gun free zone AND in a state that just enacted sweeping gun controls.

I can't figure it out either, I mean bad guys all respect gun laws and gun free zones. Sheesh. Here in Kansas we even passed the time out law and it is extremely successful. It's where you can use the internationally recognized time out symbol and bad guys have to wait until you are fairly armed.....several homeowners have used it successfully and our criminals are starting to revolt. The president of the bad guy union is threatening to bring in outside money and elect more gun control officials in an effort to swing control back to their union constituents.

Colorado must have a different breed of bad guys, maybe they need a time out law eh?

I would prefer precision shots with the least amount of bullets as some walls are no barrier for a bullet. And if by school staff you mean an officer of the law, I would agree... but if you mean teachers... then I see some potential drawbacks. What is going to stop Matt, a 6'0" 180 lbs. 9th grader from overpowering Ms. Daisy... his 120 lbs. English teacher, or Mr. McCoy, the 57 y/o History teacher who is in failing health?

Arming teachers is great until a student takes the gun and kills a teacher and classmates with it.

 

A hail of gunfire accurate in nature if you wish however even the law enforcement community with all it's training still strike unintended targets because of the dynamics of deadly force encounters. There is no perfect scenario and losing 1, 2, or 3 innocent students because of stray fire certainly beats losing 26 because no one had the means to defend against such an attack.

I exactly mean the math teacher or the janitor, or the principal. I read plenty of articles of 120 lbs females or 57 year olds in failing health defending their lives through the equalizer known as a firearm against bad guys. That is a proven fact on the streets and in my belief would be a fact in schools. In my state CCH holders commit less crime and actually don't have their guns used against them than the average citizen. Your dependence on waiting for the government to be there is a proven fallacy. I will go as far to say that should my child die as the result of a stray bullet from a staff member using a firearm to prevent many deaths of other students I will stand by my decision.

There is a lot less risk of Johnny taking away a gun from a staff member they have no idea is carrying than a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun.

no. we are talking about the sun......and if it exists. You denied the sun exists. I cannot have a debate with someone who doesn't believe the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. I don't have to prove anything to someone who thinks the sun doesn't exist
