Which is funny since they essentially give credence to the GOP platform of lowering taxes for everyone to stimulate the economy and bring in tons of new businesses. Giving special treatments to their friends is essentially fascism.

I think it's more base than this. Democrats always have to pay for it. Always...

Which is why they need power. They wouldn't have friends if they didn't give away money to them...

Bezos created a widget that everyone loved and became a trillionaire because people continue to click the "Confirm Purchase" button and it's only then that people hate him because of his success. Why hate the man when he gave people EXACTLY what they wanted. Just like the people who have so much disdain for the Walton's because of their success. Envious much?

Folks don't hate the guy for giving the people what they wanted. Folks don't like Bezos because he's demonstrably cheated to get ahead, and then because of his wealth and access, he's created artificial barriers to folks competing against him, on the promise that he spread a little of his wealth around for those who do his legislative bidding.

Somehow, doesn't the Amazon narrative undercut the liberal/democratic message of supporting the local, small business folks? Seems to be diametrically opposed to this to me.

Same reason Trump gave people like Bezos 86% of the tax cuts he just passed about a year ago -- its always good to give handouts to the wealthy, they deserve it because they are wealthy

In fairness, I'm not very knowledgeable regarding Bezos back story other than Amazon was a brilliant success and has progressed well past being an ebook distribution clearing house. Amazon also has made small independents whom were struggling through sites such as Ebay and or brick and mortar sites the opportunity to a massive and consolidated forum were small firms (as well as large) can sell their wares to a large consortium of consumers. Fire TV allowed for people who were tired of major cable companies jacking prices to cut the cord.

He might be a ******, but he has helped allot of little people in many ways.

I know a lot of little people, and frankly a lot of large organizations who haven't been "helped" by mr Bezos. Why do you think he owns the WAPO? It isn't because he's generous...

No, he's a businessman doing what a sound business man does. My sister has a small little shop in Downtown Colorado Springs. She struggled for years to make a living until she starting selling her items through Amazon. She's not rich by any stretch but she now has a viable business now that her shop is available to the world.

Granted, there are ample mom and pops that closed their doors due to these online merchant centers. Just like Walmart that closed the local grocery stores in small town USA. People quit supporting their local grocer to reap the benefits of a national retailer with massive buying power which made it to where they could reduce their cost, making goods and services way more affordable that independents.

Me, personally, would rather have quality over quantity so I pay the higher prices and support those types of shops. However, the people who tend to scream at these large corporations who shut down the smaller mom and pop's are also the ones feeding the beast weekly by continuing to buy their wares.

Except that’s exactly what this is. Class warfare.

The same people up in arms over an average of $253 a month per household that receives food stamps or a government healthcare option that will actually lower costs will either applaud this massive wealth transfer or ignore it entirely.

Nobody is envious of Bezos' success. I, however, object to the method of making more profits by lobbying instead of innovating. Lobbying and using the position of the 1000 pound gorilla to get what he wants (strongarming) is exactly what has happened in this case. To think of it, that's the method that Trump used throughout his life, except, unlike Bezos, he has inherited his position to strongarm rather than having innovated to get it.

The crony capitalism in this case involves Democrat administrations in NY and VA.

Interesting blend of issues. If you order from Amazon, you are willingly handing over your money. If you oppose his wealth, you may opt out.

Food Stamps/EBT/SNAP are paid for with money forcefully confiscated from tax payers. Can I opt out of buying energy drinks and sodas for the less fortunate?

Well, if the cities have done the math right, they should make more than that in increased personal/sales taxes. If the cities haven't done the math right, it's a stupid proposition for them to agree with.

You have lost the true capitalism that gave all a chance to become independent to the new crony capitalism that will turn you into a slave fro the oligarchs.

Dems really don’t care, so long as Bezos donates to the party. Dems at their core want to be told how to live, they aren’t free thinkers deep down

Sadly so do most repubs. Too much reaching across the isles to snatch up some more loot.
Who in the hell hired these RINO crooks to reach across the aisle and vote against America?

Conflation with everyone getting a tax cut and select few getting a tax cut. Its actually more like how GE paid $0 in taxes after backing Obama and he gave them subsidies. GE, the most profitable company at the time, paid $0 in taxes to the US after funding the POTUS bid for office.

It was quite successful 8/9 years ago. A good reminder not to let people like obama, Clinton, et al in charge of foreign policy

Did the taxpayers get to vote for Amazon to get a tax break?

LOL what? The mighty orange one gave them a tax break and you cheered. Such transparent hypocrisy.
