A democrat controlled Congress. It's amazing he got as far as he did, and it's not to say he didn't have regrets. Democrats never keep their promises, he learned that, hence why he commissioned Norquist.
No excuses! Primary his asss! He had no conviction! No principles! He compromised! He should have shut down the govt. 16 times rather than RAISE TAXES 16 times! Classic RINO!
Not anymore, the Democrats changed. They used to at least follow through on deals, now they're not to be trusted. Too ideologically motivated. Reagan tied the hands of the Party, because he recognized that.
Not anymore, the REPUBLICANS changed. They used to at least follow through on deals, now they're not to be trusted. ONLY ideologically motivated. No desire for compromise, to the point of not even caring if anything gets accomplished ever.
Those who have been watching him closest are, apparently, onto his game. Besides his state, Ryan actually lost his hometown, Janesville, twice last November. He was reelected to the House but was defeated in Janesville by 10 points in his congressional race. Janesville also went for Obama/Biden ticket over Romney/Ryan by 25 points. He blamed the embarrassing double defeat on the Republican Party which may serve his anticipated future in Janesville, but certainly not in the GOP nationally: "When you join a national ticket for a party, you become more seen as a Republican guy than necessarily a Janesville guy. So I think my image, or the thought people had in their minds of me once I joined the Republican ticket, was more 'Paul Ryan, Republican,' than 'Paul Ryan, Janesville guy'." "Paul Ryan Janesville guy!" Let the RNC and posterity so note, and any future Gustav Borglund so inscribe.
No different than Carter or Clinton. Twho white, male southerners who have executed black people? Represent right to work states? Support free trade and welfare reform?
I agree, I get it! The whole right wing ideology has NOTHING to do with solving any problems, it's just about setting certain conditions and just accepting whatever outcome arises from said conditions, even if the outcomes are bad. It's not about purposely trying to get any desirable results in any way.
I'm a far left socialist, I'm totally good with executing black people if they're guilty and I want the method of execution to cause excruciating physical and mental pain too. Don't try to act like everybody fits into two neat little boxes like "liberal and "conservative".
" I don't want to do nothing! There's plenty to do! But the question I ponder is 'Who plans for whom?' Do I plan for myself? Or leave it to you? I want plans by the many, not by the few." For an alternative explanation, see the original definition of "American Expectationalism". No, but there are cases like that. Sometimes there is no optimal solution, only trade offs, and you have to decide what trade off you're going to make. Thomas Sowell, take us out. EDIT: What coincidence, I'm a far right capitalist, and I'm anti-death penalty.
Paul Ryan is the lowest of the low i.e. his craven support of immigration reform. He is Chief Pimp in House. What kind of person would sacrifice America's demographic future for a few votes and contributions from business sleazebags?
That's good, that's my whole point. I mean the way some think that people are all neatly alligned into 2 straight lines of belief.
My beliefs are motivated by Natural Law: Life, Liberty, Property. I make few, if any, exceptions, and will not for a legal system that has a history of executing innocents.
Me too. I have to say I believe that if you are to execute a death penalty, it has to be a slam dunk 100% guilty case, verified by multiple eyewitnesses or on video or something like that. I've been disturbed about how that can hand down death sentences even without finding the body...give me a break!
