I think all you need to do is look at how Trump was laughed at the G6 Summit to know he hasn't begun to either make us stronger let alone gain back respect.
It probably will. He's flat out wrong, anyway, some 80% of the country wants stronger immigration restrictions. "The poll found that 81% of voters want to reduce legal immigration from its current level of more than 1 million per year, and 63% want it cut by at least half." "The poll also reveals that 60 percent of voters oppose giving preference to parents who illegally brought their children to the U.S. The Durbin-Graham no-strings DACA amnesty offered in the Senate would give amnesty to the parents." https://www.numbersusa.com/news/har...ll-voters-support-reducing-immigration-levels
Tell how do you want this "respect" you are talking about manifest itself? If he had all this adoration you claim as a substitute for respect what would be better for us the United States?
Acting a bit more presidential would be good for starters. Maybe not openly bombing countries like Syria and standing up to countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia would help as well. Countries wouldn’t look at us as a laughing stock like they do now, both our adversaries and allies. They would be more willing to work with us, let alone trust us. That adoration would build respect along the way. So we would have both.
That will create this respect you claim that will manifest itself how, what will it accomplish that hasn't been accomplished? Bombing Syria WAS standing up to Russia and he just stood up to Russia on the nuke treaty did you support him on that? If they want to laugh at American the do so at their own risk. They had better more worry about what we think about them and whether WE respect THEM. Who would be more willing to work with us on what that they refuse to do so now?
When have I ever given the slightest impression that I'm a Trump supporter? I can't stand the man, but I'm not a spitting ideologue so my ire is within psychonormative limits.
The current Administration is an embarrassment - as was the previous one,and the one before that. Anyone who does not realize this lacks an understanding of the founding principles and the rule of law.
